What will you contribute?
Reporting to the Interim Head of Platform Engineering, the Principal Platform Engineer designs, develops, analyzes, and maintains high-quality software product applications. This position is located in Bangalore.
Responsibilities & Deliverables:
Your deliverables as a Principal Platform Engineer will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Participates in software design meetings and analyzes user needs to determine technical requirements.
- Designs and develops high-quality code.
- Tests, debugs, analyzes and fixes application problems/issues. Works closely with stakeholders to fix issues in a timely fashion.
- Follows the software development lifecycle process.
- Interacts with internal stakeholders to support product releases and/or resolve program problems.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Experience:
Key Responsibilities:
· Design and build Internal Developer Platforms (IDP) to enable self-service capabilities for engineering teams
· Implement and manage GitOps workflows using tools like Argo CD
· Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
· Design and manage scalable cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure
· Enable platform standardization across environments (dev, staging, production)
· Develop reusable infrastructure and platform components using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
· Work with engineering teams to improve developer experience and deployment efficiency
· Build and support AI-enabled platform capabilities (e.g., automation, intelligent pipelines, observability insights)
· Extensive experience in managing containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes (AKS)
· Implement DevSecOps best practices across the platform
· Drive observability, monitoring, and reliability across platform services
Strong hands-on experience with:
· Azure Cloud Services
· GitHub Actions (CI/CD)
· Argo CD / GitOps practices
· Expert in Kubernetes (AKS) and Docker
· Fundamental Principles: Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, subnets, VLANs, and routing.
· Cloud Networking: Proficiency with AWS, Azure, or GCP networking (e.g., VPCs, DNS, Load Balancers).
· Kubernetes Networking: Understanding the Container Network Interface (CNI) layer, service discovery, and network policies.
· Security & Troubleshooting: Setting up firewalls, managing load balancing, and troubleshooting packet loss/connectivity issues.
· Experience in building or contributing to an Internal Developer Platform (IDP)
· Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
· Experience with Java-based ecosystems (understanding application deployment and runtime)
· Knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Azure Monitor, etc.)
· Understanding of DevSecOps principles and cloud security best practices
· Exposure to AI/ML enablement in DevOps or platform engineering (good to have)
· Strong problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills
Good to Have:
· Experience in platform engineering transformations
· Exposure to Backstage or similar developer portals
· Experience integrating AI tools into DevOps workflows
· Prior experience in consulting or working with multiple clients
