The Principal Platform Engineer will architect secure cloud platforms, implement CI/CD pipelines, and utilize DevOps expertise to enhance healthcare technologies.
Summary Generated by Built In
We are a rapidly growing, Boston-based medical technology company using AI to help clinicians make more informed decisions on cardiovascular care - leading to better patient outcomes, improved quality of care, and reduced healthcare costs. Come work at Elucid and be part of delivering on our mission to prevent heart attacks and strokes!
Are you the person who sees a sprawling Terraform codebase and immediately starts redesigning it in your head—and wonders if the code could truly produce repeatable environments?
At Elucid the platform you build sits underneath AI that helps cardiologists identify dangerous plaque before a patient has a heart attack. Your architecture choices, your deployment pipelines are part of technology that is actively changing how cardiovascular disease is diagnosed and treated. We're looking for a Principal Platform Engineer with deep AWS and infrastructure experience. You'll own and evolve our Terraform foundations, architect secure automated systems in an FDA-regulated environment and build CI/CD pipelines that let teams ship confidently. This is a hands-on role with real architectural influence, not a ticket queue.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • 7+ years of DevOps/SRE/Platform engineering experience in an agile environment, with fluency in at least one scripting or systems language (Python, Ruby, Go, Rust, etc.).
  • Deep, hands-on Terraform expertise. You've designed modules, managed state at scale and know where it breaks down.
  • Extensive experience building and supporting AWS environments (ECS, EFS, EC2, RDS, Redshift, VPC, Route53, etc.).
  • Strong containerization and orchestration skills (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/Fargate) and experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab, CircleCI, etc.).
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog or New Relic.
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
Work Location and Hours:
  • This role is based out of our office in Boston, MA. We operate in a hybrid model with regular in-office collaboration.
  • This role participates in on-call rotation that provides coverage on business days from 9:00 AM to 12:00 AM. The rotation is shared among all team members and generally occurs for 2–3 weeks per quarter.
Salary Range:
  • The anticipated base salary range for this position at Elucid is $170,000-$205,000. Compensation will be influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, job-related knowledge, skills, education, relevant experience, certifications, and geography as outlined in the job description.

Skills Required

  • 7+ years of DevOps/SRE/Platform-focused software engineering experience
  • Expertise with at least one coding language (Ruby, Python, Rust, Go, etc.)
  • Experience creating and supporting AWS Environments
  • Experience developing infrastructure-as-code (IaC)
  • Experience with containerization and virtualization
  • Experience building and/or maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with monitoring tools

What We Do

Elucid is a Boston-based medical technology company using uniquely interpretable and validated AI to provide physicians with a cost-effective means to optimize treatment decisions for patients with cardiovascular disease. Advanced clinical insight from Elucid equips physicians with critical information designed to enable precision medicine. Elucid is the first FDA-Cleared and CE-marked non-invasive software to quantify atherosclerotic plaque characteristics compared to histopathology, including Lipid Rich Necrotic Core. The company has published studies for its derivation of fractional flow reserve (FFRct) based on the vasodilative capacity of the vessel wall and estimation of coding and non-coding RNA transcripts (“Virtual Transcriptomics”). This unique information informs improved treatment decisions by physicians leading to better patient outcomes, improved quality of care, and reduced healthcare costs. The Elucid software is available for commercial use in the U.S. and Europe
