Advanced Test and Support Systems (ATSS) is seeking a Principle Mechanical Engineer/Senior Principle Mechanical Engineer (Level 3/4) to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals in Oklahoma City, OK. You will become part of an NGC team actively developing Avionics Testing Solutions and Specialized Test Equipment for the Sentinel Missile platform. We also work on and assist with the USAF B-2, E-3, and numerous other Government platforms. Our team members complete engineering efforts to solve complex problems and ensure warfighter supportability. The position will research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and products for defense or commercial systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and define system architecture for new or existing complex integrated test systems

  • Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total systems in a laboratory environment

  • Oversight and ownership of engineering design as well as 2D/3D drawing formats and standards for a wide array of mechanical products:

    • Product details

    • Product assemblies

    • Test Bench/Bay assemblies

    • Top Level installations

    • Thermal Analysis

    • Stress Analysis

    • Weight Analysis

    • Design for Manufacturing

    • FEA modeling

  • Development and coordination for internal and customer design reviews for the mechanical and system level designs of our products

  • Development of supporting documentation (operating / user manuals, etc.) for our products

  • Assist in troubleshooting of built equipment

  • Coordination with engineering manager(s) to ensure product technical data packages meet project schedule commitments

  • Coordinate between several internal and external stakeholder groups (Software Development, System Test, Cyber Operations, Procurement, etc.) to achieve contractual commitments

  • Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules.

  • Identify program problems and assist in the establishing of solutions, such as allocation of resources, improved processes, or changing contractual specifications.

  • Act independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of programs.

  • Support process improvement and establishment.

  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

  • Generate reports and presents to Government counterparts, defense contractors, and other cross-functional organizations.

  • Provide leadership and mentoring in addition to being an individual performer

  • Has technical insight and experience to know if test set-up and results make sense

  • Ability to establish and maintain frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.

  • Coordinates with team lead, electrical technicians, and I&T managers to complete tasking. May participate, prepare, and present material in program review boards (PDRs, CDRs, TRRs, FRBs, etc)

Basic Qualifications:

 

·       Principle Mechanical Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Mech/Aero Engineering (or equivalent) with 5 years of related engineering experience OR a Master’s degree with 3 years of related engineering experience OR a PhD with 0 years of related engineering experience

·       Senior Principle Mechanical Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Mech/Aero Engineering (or equivalent) with 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree with 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD with 3 years of related engineering experience

·       Ability to listen effectively, take direction, and possess initiative to accomplish assigned tasks and complete work in a timely fashion

·       Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications

·       Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD SECRET security clearance & special program access

  • Ability to obtain/maintain access to work on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

  • Experience in Aerospace or Defense industry

·       Experience leading multi-disciplinary technical teams

  • Ability to diagnose/troubleshoot/repair hardware components.

  • Experience with CAD or similar design tools

Preferred Qualifications: 

·       Active DoD SECRET or higher security clearance with investigation in the last five (5) years

·       Active Program clearance

·       Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Additive Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline

  • Experience in Additive Manufacturing or 3D-Print design & technologies

  • Experience in an Agile development environment

  • Experience in Instrumentation or Avionics Systems

  • Experience with any of the following CAD Software Tools and Data Management Products: CATIA, SolidWorks Mechanical/PDM, Siemens NX/Capital, Enovia SmarTeam, Team Center, ANSYS Fluent/Mechanical/Icepack/Discovery, Femap/Nastran/Patran, MATLAB

·       Experience in Power Distribution Systems

·       Experience with HW/SW Integration

·       Experience in Nuclear Surety

·       Experience in Manufacturing Engineering

·       Experience with AS9100, ASME, and ISO Standards implementation

  • Experience with nuclear hardened systems.

  • Experience with design for manufacturing

Primary Level Salary Range: $84,700.00 - $158,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $0.00 - $0.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
