About This Opportunity  

Join a well-established and highly regarded learning design team within UQ Business School, recognised for its collaborative approach to program development and teaching innovation. Reporting to the Senior Manager Learning Design, and working under broad direction, the Principal Learning Designer plays a strategic role in shaping contemporary, inclusive and high‑quality learning experiences across award and non‑award programs.
We are seeking an experienced professional who will complement our existing team, bringing their expertise and perspective to further strengthen an already high-performing environment. You will work closely with academic and professional colleagues in a setting that values curiosity, experimentation and shared purpose, where your ideas will help build on what is already working well.
 

Key responsibilities will include:  

  • Identifying, championing and embedding innovative pedagogical approaches and learning technologies that enhance the student learning experience.

  • Advising and partnering with academic, professional and University colleagues to design, develop, implement and evaluate effective learning experiences.

  • Leading and coordinating curriculum projects, including curriculum reviews and uplift initiatives, in collaboration with learning design, academic and professional teams.

  • Maintaining and sharing current knowledge of best practice, research and emerging opportunities in teaching and learning across the higher education sector. 

About You   

You will bring a thoughtful, evidence‑informed approach to learning design, along with the confidence to work independently and collaboratively in a complex academic environment.
You will also demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications with at least 4 years’ subsequent experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and training.

  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing and evaluating innovative learning and teaching approaches in higher education.

  • Expertise in one or more priority areas such as AI capability development, Indigenous perspectives and ways of learning, principles for responsible management education (PRME), or online, hybrid and blended learning.

  • Proven ability to apply contemporary learning design principles, including inclusive and evidence‑based pedagogies, to improve student learning outcomes.

  • Experience supporting academic staff with curriculum development, renewal or uplift.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage priorities, use data and feedback, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated capacity to build trusted relationships across academic and professional communities.

  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
