How you’ll make an impact:

This is a unique opportunity to foster and support Industrial Design activities with new product development teams across projects and business units. This is a high visibility and high impact career opportunity.

Provide technical expertise in the creation and execution of innovative designs, prototype new concepts, and support consistent and intuitive product experiences in partnership with Human Factors Engineering, Marketing, and various cross-functional business partners.
• Execute UI design guidelines to ensure consistent design and interaction elements across platforms and projects. Provide creative Industrial Design recommendations that align with and support design control activities for devices.
• Utilize user experience techniques to make intuitive interfaces that minimize user training and learning curves for medical devices.
• Lead in the improvement, design and optimization of medical devices, provide recommendations with increased complexity, and develop reports, based on user experience design principles that translate to innovative products.
• Support Industrial Design activities by partnering with external design partners and various stakeholders throughout the organization as needed.
• Identify, evaluate, manage, and provide guidance to stakeholders to implement consistent Industrial Design frameworks across a variety of devices.
• Proactively identify issues, achieve resolution, and resolve problems within the Industrial Design space.
• Create/update Industrial Design-related design control documents including requirement specs and risk documents with robust knowledge on design control requirements.
• Develop project plans to assess user experience and drive project results.

What you’ll need (Required):

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design or related field, 8 years of previous related experience required
Experience in designing devices and user interfaces in challenging situations required
Experience in developing low-, medium-, and high-fidelity prototypes required
Experience in creating CAD models required
Experience across all phases of product development from ideation, user research, feasibility, prototyping, design iteration, and high-fidelity models required
What else we look for (Preferred):

• Demonstrated experience in consistently executing design language and libraries across various product platforms
• Demonstrated experience in designing products that minimize risk of use errors, require minimal training, and are intuitive
• Proven experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, etc)
• Demonstrated ability to work with teams to complete critical milestones under pressure with short deadlines
• Proven successful project management skills
• Proven expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and other related tools and/or systems required
• Excellent documentation and communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills
• Extensive knowledge of own area within the organization while contributing to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards
• Extensive understanding of Industrial Design
• Extensive understanding of user experience concepts
• Strict attention to detail
• Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels and proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organization
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Leadership and talent development skills
• Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
 

Aligning our overall business objectives with performance, we offer competitive salaries, performance-based incentives, and a wide variety of benefits programs to address the diverse individual needs of our employees and their families.

For California (CA), the base pay range for this position is $126,000 to $178,000 (highly experienced).
The pay for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience). Applications will be accepted while this position is posted on our Careers website.
