Position Description:
Develops software using Java, J2EE, Spring/Spring Boot, Angular, REST Services, deployment technologies, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) in an Agile environment. Builds and deploys software using technical tools — Maven, Jenkins, Git Stash, and Jira. Automates application pipelines. Develops the technical strategy and delivery of workflow integration points within internal and external applications. Participates in technology transformation initiatives to incorporate the newest technologies and improve product offerings. Leads design sessions and drives adoption of development standards and best practices. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Adopts new technologies.
- Designs and develops Web applications used by internal associates and financial professionals.
- Confers with systems analysts and other software engineers/developers to design systems.
- Obtains information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
- Develops software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
- Conveys technical concepts with stakeholders across the organization.
- Contributes to user story refinement, story completion, and participates in all related Scrum events.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application-level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.

- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Full Stack Engineer (or closely related occupation) developing Web technologies with JAVA, J2EE, MQ, Spring, and client and server side technologies (SOAP and REST), within a financial service environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Full Stack Engineer (or closely related occupation) developing Web technologies with JAVA, J2EE, MQ, Spring, and client and server side technologies (SOAP and REST), within a financial service environment.

- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) developing rich internet content (responsive and adaptive Web design) using Angular, Angular JS, JavaScript, HTML, DOJO, CSS, jQuery, Node.js, HDIV, and JSON; and building online transaction processing financial platforms, workflow management and document management systems, using IDE tools (Spring Tools, Eclipse, and Visual Studio), GitHub Advanced Security, Mend, Selenium, and Sonar.
- DE developing customer facing enterprise Web applications using server-side technologies both on-premise and Cloud-based -- Java, AWS EKS, S3, SQS, deployment tools (Jenkins and UDeploy), Spring Cloud and JDBC, Hibernate, Struts, iBatis, SOAP, RESTful Web services, PL/SQL, and debugging Oracle and DB2 stored procedures.
- DE designing Web-based financial service applications, including user security provisioning, transaction processing applications, role-based user access, firm provisioning, and entitlements, while adhering to Agile or SCRUM methodologies; performing daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and demo and retrospective meetings with stakeholders, using JIRA; and building product guides using Confluence, and MURAL or Miro.
- DE delivering batch application design and development, using XML; designing and developing Java multi-threaded applications, using DevOps tools -- GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, Concourse, uDeploy, Splunk, and Datadog; driving technical initiatives using Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Shell Scripting, Event-Driven Notifications, and MQ Integrations; and modernizing legacy applications using Jenkins, Docker, Terra, Spring Boot, EKS, S3, and IAM.
