Principal Enterprise Architect, Director

Join us as a Principal Enterprise Architect, Director, Functions Architecture team at Bank’s Central Architecture and Engineering function

• You'll be leading architecture decision making, partnering with key business and digital leaders to develop and evolve a comprehensive target architecture and roadmap
• To ensure strategic architecture evolution and roadmap alignment with Bank’s strategy for the functions in scope; prime association with Group COO sub functions, economic Crime hub
• We’ll look to you to ensure that each functions strategy and architecture enables bank’s simplification and growth and supports bank’s strategic programme outcomes and investments
• We’ll look to you to partner in the definition of the overall architecture vision, strategic target architecture and roadmap
• You’ll accelerate fast adoption of AI capabilities enabling consistent short- and long-term customer and business value for the bank
• Partnering with other functions and franchises, you’ll lead creation of pan bank architecture and solution for business cases
• With valuable exposure, you’ll cultivate strong relationships and proactively engage with key stakeholders, including C-level business and technology executives, vendors and partners, and industry thought leaders

As a Principal Enterprise Architect, you’ll be leading teams of architects and engineers to architect customer centric, high performance, secure, robust and sustainable end to end digital products, solutions, and services that deliver business value while aligning to the bank’s strategic target architecture.

You’ll also lead in building the architectural capability of colleagues and partners to meet functional ambitions, motivating colleagues by leveraging new technologies and demonstrating functional credibility.

Working across domains in scope of the role, you’ll lead and prioritise the future architectural direction to enable each function to fulfil its roadmap and journey ambitions. You’ll also oversee approval of domain architecture roadmaps and adherence to agreed architecture plans through Bank’s architecture governance processes.

As well as this, you’ll be:

• Leading architecture and design reviews of solution architectures within delivery programmes of high architectural significance or risk
• Inspecting and verifying that proposed designs meet business needs, and are compliant with Architecture Council approved architecture principles, standards, and patterns
• Assuring investment alignment with business and digital strategies through making explicit recommendations and influencing investment decisions
• Chairing architectural design authorities and review boards to evaluate proposed solutions and help ensure alignment with strategy, architecture principles, and standards
• Recruiting, mentoring, and developing teams of highly skilled architects, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence
• Continuously researching and evaluating emerging technologies, architecture patterns, and industry best practices to identify threats to current architecture and opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage

To succeed in this role, you’ll need extensive expert knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, modern technologies such as Cloud, microservices and AI, agile architecture and devops practices, including a deep understanding of business use cases and emerging trends that drive organisational success.

You’ll bring proven experience of architecture discipline, pattern development, and technology alignment along with an understanding on how technology is leveraged to create competitive advantage, improve customer experiences, and drive efficiency. You will have experience of large-scale functional transformation including automation, Business Process Management and experience of ERP platforms (Workday, Oracle Financials preferred)

You’ll also demonstrate:

• Proven expertise in leading collaborative decision-making processes, partnering with senior business and technology leaders to articulate and evolve architectural direction
• Strong proficiency in identifying and advocating for strategic investment opportunities that enhance the organisation's architecture goals
• The proven ability to craft compelling business cases and influence executive stakeholders to secure investment for architecture initiativesExtensive experience of leading the oversight and assurance of architecture designs, with a focus on risk management, governance with Financial Crime, Fraud and Risk architecture would be an advantage. 
• Experience of leading comprehensive architecture and design reviews to validate that solutions meet business needs and comply with architecture standards
• A proven track record of fostering a culture of architectural excellence through mentorship and knowledge sharing
• Experience of leading initiatives that promote best practices, support professional development, and encourage collaboration across architecture teams
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, highly proficient at communicating complex architectural concepts and strategies.
• You’ll be an expert at leading organisational change, including cultural transformation and the adoption of new technologies, methodologies, and architectures
