Job Description Principal (Engineering College)
Roles and Responsibilities
Oversees all administrative and academic operations in accordance with the AICTE in all aspects.
Conducts all the UG, PG and Ph.D programmes in accordance with the standards of the affiliating university.
Appoints Faculty Member according to the norms of the AICTE and affiliating university.
Overseeing the auditing and inspections of the institution undertaken by regulatory bodies such as the UGC, AICTE, and university, in addition to those conducted by top management.
Monitors smooth conduct of Quality Management System in accordance with NAAC and NIRF.
Monitoring the student discipline and conduct (including attendance) and maintaining the decorum of the institution.
Ensuring effective instruction in accordance with the approved curriculum and the teaching / institutional technique recommended by the University / AICTE / UGC / Management.
Overseeing all procedures to be followed by the office, including admission, fee collection, attendance, recruitment, and any other matter related to college administration.
Monitoring all the liaison activities with governmental, and other academic bodies/institutions.
Monitoring the liaison of activities with departments within the college and most importantly with the top management.
Monitoring the conduct of meetings on behalf of the institution, which include staff, HoDs, Coordinators, College Academic Council, and the Governing Council.
Overseeing the procurement and purchase of all necessary infrastructure for the institution, such as furniture and fittings, lab equipment, books, and any other requirements, in accordance with the prescribed regulations.
The principal needs to recruit the right faculty members suitable for the institution keeping in view the future needs of the institution.
Developing the institution's working and learning culture.
Engage in research, publication, consulting, and training, and create credentials as an academician of worldwide standing in order to acquire acceptance from all faculty members as a true academic leader.
To establish high standards of discipline, commitment, and participation in work routines.
Establishing necessary systems, procedures, and policies facilitating towards realizing the vision.
Desired Candidate Profile
Candidate must be Ph.D. with M.E/M.Tech. In any Specialisations with first class and PhD or equivalent, in appropriate discipline. Post PhD publications and guiding PhD student is highly desirable.
Minimum of 20 years teaching / research / industrial experience of which at least 5 years should be at the level of Principal.
Skills Required
- Ph.D. in an appropriate engineering discipline
- M.E./M.Tech with first class
- Minimum 20 years teaching, research, or industry experience
- At least 5 years of experience at the level of Principal
- Familiarity with AICTE, UGC, NAAC, NIRF and affiliating university regulations and compliance
- Post-PhD publications
- Experience guiding PhD students
