Job Description

We are looking for a Principal Engineer with 10-25 years of design and field experience.

  • Responsible for conducting field investigations, analysis and design
  • Interact with clients and other design and construction professionals.
  • Conduct forensic investigations and litigation support for expert witness services.
  • Able to perform business development tasks and develop a book of business.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree, Master of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering preferred. 
  • Professional licensure/registration for the state of IL required
  • Experienced with AutoCAD and computer aided analysis/design of structures is required and experience with BIM software a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are also required.
  • Some travel is required to attend site meetings and perform investigations.
  • The successful candidate will be able to bring a book of work and clients to SOCOTEC and help us to grow the Chicago office. Service sectors that include Infrastructure, Transportation, Geotechnical Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and Structural Dynamics will be those most strongly considered.
