We are seeking a Contract Principal Instrument and Control System Engineer to join our project team in Houston, Texas. The position is Monday – Friday in office.
This position will report to the Director of Instrumentation and Controls.
The role will be part of the team responsible for ensuring that the Plant Instrumentation and Control Systems operate as per design, in a safe and reliable manner with minimal downtime.
General Description Duties & Responsibilities
Apply technical expertise to support design, installation, commissioning, and operation of instrument and controls systems as subject matter expert.
Troubleshoot and solve controls logic and communication issues.
Participate in check out of cause and effects, complex loops, etc.
Qualifications
Required experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering, preferably with specialization in Process Control, Control systems, Control Narratives, Cause and Effects and Instrumentation.
Minimum 10 years’ experience working with instrumentation and control systems.
Experience with: Plant Instrumented Control and Safety Systems (e.g. Distributed Control Systems (Mark VIe & Emerson Delta V), Safety Systems (Mark VIe, HIMA), Fire and Gas Systems, and Programmable Logic Controllers (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Emerson/GE, etc.)
Operational Technology Networks, Fiber Optic Network Design
Field Instrumentation for process measurement (e.g. Pressure, Temperature, Level, Flow, etc.) Fire and Gas, Control Valves, Shutdown Valves (Air, Gas, and Motor Operated), Analyzers (H2S, Moisture, etc.) Gas Chromatographs, CEMS, Flow Metering Systems (Ultrasonic, Coriolis, Differential Pressure, etc.) and their transmission systems (e.g. 4-20mA, Hart, ProfiBus, etc.)
Alarm Management Systems including Management of Alarm databases and audits against Operating systems
Power generation systems Gas and Steam Turbines Generators, HRSG, ACC.
Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI)
P&ID review and development of I&C Scope.
Industry standards, such as NFPA, API, ISA, ASME.
- Experience in LNG liquefaction facilities highly preferred.

Skills Required

- At least 10 years of experience working with instrumentation and control systems.

- Experience with process field instrumentation, fire and gas systems, control valves, shutdown valves, analyzers, gas chromatographs, CEMS, and flow metering systems.
- Experience with instrumentation transmission systems including 4-20mA, HART, and ProfiBus.
- Experience with alarm management systems, alarm databases, and operating-system audits.
- Experience with power generation systems, including gas and steam turbine generators, HRSG, and ACC.
- Experience with Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI).
- Experience reviewing and developing P&IDs and I&C scope.
- Knowledge of NFPA, API, ISA, and ASME industry standards.
- Experience in LNG liquefaction facilities.
