Principal Engineer, Electronics & Embedded Systems – R&D
OUR ROLE
We are looking for a seasoned Principal Engineer, Electronics & Embedded Systems to join Fiskars R&D team. This is a senior-level technical expert role for someone with deep experience in electronics and embedded technologies, ideally in consumer electronics and battery-powered devices.
Your mission? To dream big and make it real - develop advanced electronic architectures and embedded solutions that redefine functionality and elevate user experience. You will lead concept development and technical execution during the New Product Development (NPD) phase, ensuring robust, efficient, and innovative designs for battery-powered tools.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers, ensuring seamless integration of electronics into product architecture while maintaining quality, cost efficiency, and manufacturability. Your work will directly influence innovation and sustainability, introducing smart electronics, optimizing energy efficiency, and supporting Fiskars Group’s commitment to creating products that improve everyday life.
This position is based in Espoo, Finland, and reports to our Senior Manager, R&D. The role is full-time and hybrid. Candidates based in the EU who are eligible to work in the EU are welcome to apply—relocation support to Finland will be provided where needed.
WHAT YOU’LL DO AT FISKARS GROUP
Responsibilities:
Develop electronic systems and embedded solutions for battery-powered consumer products during the NPD phase.
Drive concept creation and ensure technical feasibility for new designs.
Perform advanced analysis and validation of electronic designs, ensuring reliability and compliance.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers, industrial designers, product managers, and suppliers to integrate electronics seamlessly into product architecture.
Stay ahead of emerging technologies in electronics, IoT, and embedded systems to fuel innovation.
WHO YOU ARE
Experience:
MSc/BSc degree in Electronics Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 8+ years of experience in electronics and embedded product development, preferably in consumer electronics or battery-powered devices.
Expertise in circuit design, PCB layout, firmware development, and system integration.
Familiarity with power management, and IoT technologies is a plus.
Innovative mindset with a track record of delivering successful products.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills in English.
