Job Description for Principal Engineer – Power Hardware
Job Description:
This position has full ownership and responsibility for managing: New Product Development, Firmware and existing product VAVE projects for DC Power Business Unit.
Hardware design & development of rectifier product projects, creating timeline and, organizing collaborative meetings and ensuring project comply with specifications, timelines. Peer review project work for technical accuracy. Maintain knowledge of new trends, developments, technologies, materials and best practices; apply this knowledge to continually improve product line and production efficiency. Handle and solve market plus production problems. Perform other duties as assigned. Being part of Global Engineering Function, it is expected to follow the defined processes and adhere to defined communication plan.
Assisting the Testing consisting of High power tests of telecom and server power supply, NCU software testing, System integration testing, Thermal, EMI/EMC, Safety, Environmental, followed by Certification testing using external agency like UL, TUV or Intertek.
Coordination with Firmware team for development of software to meet the product specification.
Ownership of the project schedule and management of the resources assigned to the scheduled tasks.
10% domestic and international travel.
Job Specifications:
- PhD, Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 8 years of experience in power electronics design & development is required
- Strong knowledge of power conversion design & manufacturing
- Good exposure of engineering theory & design criteria related to power conversion is required
- Experience in Industrial grade Rectifier or UPS product design, familiar with PFC, inverter circuit, buck, boost & LLC circuit principle & design, Magnetic design Required.
- Knowledge of Electronics Simulation software like PSIM, MATLAB etc , Hardware in Loop is required.
- Familiarity with control theory, analog, digital & electric plus Strong analytical & problem-solving skill required
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC testing and solution is added advantage
- Thorough understanding of applied maths & physics is plus
- Exposure of computer-aided drafting (CAD) software is added advantage
- Exposure to embedded software development is added advantage
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision
- Excellent Interpersonal skills & ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English
Skills Required

- Thorough understanding of applied mathematics and physics
