This is a 1-year onsite contract for our client in Athens, GA. It is full-time, 40 hrs/week.

Responsibilities

  • Builds new and renovates existing infrastructure/facilities to allow the site to expand and grow to accommodate increasing production demands.

  • This individual interacts with all departments and vendors to execute high quality construction and root cause analysis problem solving in a matrix-style organization.

  • Leads and manages multiple complex capital projects up to approximately (USD)2 Million, or single projects up to (USD)12 Million and project teams of 3 people or more.

  • Establishes and controls project scopes, budgets, and schedules.

  • Functions within a technical, multi-discipline capacity to deliver capital investments to the organization in accordance with established capital management processes.

  • Develops project concepts which satisfy business and client needs.

  • Serves as the owner's representative from concept through commissioning and qualification to completion.

  • Engages AE support when required and leads development of detail design for all disciplines including but not limited to civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, controls, and fire protection.

  • Develops cost optimized Project Definitions and obtains stakeholder approvals and buy-in

  • Prepares Capital Project Authorization (CPA) funding requests.

  • Develops design, construction, and equipment Request for Proposals and selects qualified, best value bidders with proven safety records for work.

  • Executes complex, simultaneous projects to fulfill project definition requirements whose approximately (USD)2 Million.

  • Provides contractor oversight to ensure safe construction work sites.

  • Communicates with management to ensure compliance with local, state, Federal and international codes, and regulations.

  • Communicates any issues with Environmental Health and safety department and Management to ensure safety of company personal and contractors.

  • Closes projects on schedule, at or below budget, and to a high-quality standard with completion of all deliverables including commissioning & qualification reports, turnover of manuals & spare parts, and technician training.

  • Conducts routine project core team and steering committee meetings and provide regular progress updates summarizing the status of projects.

  • Demonstrates a visible & tangible commitment to EHS, Lean Principles, and the Client Values in all work-related activities.

  • Obtains bids, coordinates construction projects for facilities and/or equipment repairs, negotiates contracts, discusses projects.

  • Schedules capital activities to meet production needs.

  • In addition to the above, other assigned duties & projects deemed appropriate within the position scope.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintains Engineering Dashboard, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Project Portfolio Management (PPM) data related to schedules, deliverables, budgets, spending, and approvals through all phases of the project.

  • Manages and updates project schedules in Microsoft Project.

  • Monitors and controls project spending versus CPA budgets.

  • Coordinates contractor access to facilities and manages contractor badges and EHS training for project related activities.

  • Generates, revises, distributes, and archives project documents.

  • Creates requisitions and processes contractor invoices.

Skills (Required)

  • Background in managing facilities construction projects and teams as well as background in engineering.

  • Strong organization, leadership, communication skills, presentation, and negotiation skills.

  • Strong team orientation and ability to work cross functionally with various groups such as Safety, Quality, Maintenance, Purchasing, Industrial Development, R'D, and Manufacturing.

  • Abreast of new developments in Engineering fields that pertain to facilities, utilities, and various other operations throughout the plant.

  • Ability to execute multi-discipline assignments and ability to master new skills quickly.

  • Proficiency in relevant computer software and programs, associated with Engineering (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD or equivalent programs).

  • Strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively with all levels of corporate and local management and employees.

  • Effective interpersonal skills with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to customer service.

  • Ability to plan, schedule, organize, prioritize, and coordinate project activities as activities impact strategic and operation strategies.

  • Ability to visualize a finished product.

  • Understanding and practice basic financial ' accounting methods and procedures.

Skills (Preferred)

  • Experience with cGMP compliance or related quality systems.

  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodologies.

  • Working knowledge of the current editions of industry specific regulations.

Education/Certifications

  • 4-7 years of relevant engineering experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in construction-related engineering (engineering management, civil, mechanical, etc.) or related field from accredited engineering school and 4-7 years of relevant engineering experience.

  • Master's in engineering or MBA preferred.

  • PMP and/or EIT or PE or strong desire to pursue preferred.

  • Working knowledge and experience in managing construction projects.
