About the Role

Join our team as a Backend Engineer and help us build the backend systems for a revolutionary new music discovery platform. This role offers a unique chance to be part of the founding team, guided by experienced leaders with a proven track record in launching and scaling products. You'll be instrumental in making crucial decisions that will set the course for our platform's success. Our product is modern, challenging, and ambitious, delivering a first-class, highly engaging user experience that integrates content delivery, audio playback, machine learning, and recommendation systems. What You Will Do

  • Operate in a fast-paced, startup-like environment to launch a new business within Harman.
  • Work with a high degree of autonomy and ownership.
  • Make critical early-stage development decisions to ensure long-term success.
  • Serve as a strong technical voice on backend engineering considerations.
  • Actively engage with product stakeholders in an iterative, dynamic environment.
  • Develop a scalable, maintainable, and operable backend infrastructure to support both the launch and future growth.
  • Collaborate closely with app developers and engineers to ensure project success.

What You Need

  • Experience: 10+ years in backend services development.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of modern backend development tools.
  • Programming Languages: Familiarity with Node.js and Python.
  • Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with GCP, AWS, and Azure.
  • Deployment Technologies: Expertise with Docker, Kubernetes, and Serverless architectures.
  • Backend Architecture: Familiarity with components such as databases, caches, event streaming, queues, data warehouses, etc.
  • CI/CD: Proficient with automated pipelines for continuous build and integration systems.

What is Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or another related field. 
  • A passion for music and an interest in working on products that bring joy to music lovers worldwide.
  • Virtual or Remote work in any US time zone.
  • Experience working with machine learning workloads in production
  • Experience with social products or recommendation systems

Salary Ranges:

USD 120,000 - USD 176,000
