Role Purpose
We are seeking a skilled Data Owner to manage and optimise data related to our power dispatch model. This critical role involves overseeing the accuracy, accessibility, and governance of data used to inform decisions about electricity generation and distribution. The ideal candidate will work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure data supports efficient, cost-effective, and reliable power dispatch operations.
Main Responsibilities
- Data Management & Governance - Own the integrity, quality, and security of data supporting the power dispatch model, ensuring it is accurate, consistent, and accessible to relevant teams.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders - Work closely with energy analysts, engineers, and decision-makers to understand data requirements and ensure the model’s data meets operational needs.
- Technology Integration - Leverage tools like Snowflake or similar data warehousing technologies to streamline data storage, retrieval, and analysis, ensuring efficient handling of large datasets.
- Data Quality Assurance - Implement processes and checks to validate and maintain high data quality across various sources, enabling reliable power dispatch decisions.
- Reporting & Insights - Provide meaningful insights and data-driven recommendations to improve the dispatch model’s efficiency, while ensuring alignment with broader business goals.
- Team Building - Lead and build a data analyst team to support the power dispatch model, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
Expectations
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or similar).
- Strong experience in managing large datasets and data governance, ideally within the energy or utilities sector. Experience with data warehousing solutions like Snowflake or similar platforms is essential.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve data issues.
- Proficiency in data visualisation and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional and international teams, translating complex data into actionable insights.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on the latest data trends and tools in the energy sector.
- Familiarity with the power and energy sector, including experience in power dispatch models or energy systems, will be highly valued.
- Experience in SQL or Python is advantageous.
