Northrop Grumman's Insights & Intelligence (i2) organization is looking for a Principal Data Engineer to work on fast-paced special projects to support critical business initiatives with executive sponsorship. This role is for our Enterprise Data Delivery Team and will focus on SAP HANA reporting solutions.
This position is primarily located and supporting the Falls Church, VA corporate office, however, fulltime virtual/telecommuting options could be available
Candidate responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Analyze, design, develop, and support our SAP HANA solutions.
Lead the design and development of data products for fast-paced special projects.
Help shape the evolving data platform within CIDO by building reusable components and sharing ideas on architecture and best practices.
Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, and data scientists to translate strategic questions into data products and pipelines.
Liaise with process teams to gather reporting requirements and work closely with counterparts to build BI solutions to enable business decisions and efficient operations.
Develop and enhance basic HANA Calculation views to meet business requirements.
Leverage Business Objects/PowerBI to develop rich, interactive data visualizations to present business information.
Data validation of HANA views and reports to identify and resolve any issues prior to deploying reporting solutions to production.
Design, testing and metadata documentation in desired templates/formats.
Develop and provide demos/end user training to showcase reporting tools and capabilities.
Partner with business subject matter experts to determine reporting gaps and opportunities to expand SAP HANA and S/4 Embedded Analytics solutions within their business areas.
Basic Qualifications - to be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Bachelors degree in a related discipline and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience; 3 years with a Master's degree.
At least 2 years of experience with the design, development, and maintenance of HANA development and Business Objects, PowerBI, and/or Tableau Reporting solutions.
Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated SQL experience
Experience in mapping business/functional requirements into a technical design/solution.
Ability to communicate design issues/concerns and raise them to team/project lead in a timely manner.
Ability to develop and demo S/4 Embedded Analytics (virtual and recorded).
Knowledge and development experience with Business Objects - Analysis Office/WEBI.
Knowledge and development experience in HANA Calculation Views/Scripts.
Ability to perform analysis to determine root cause of design/testing discrepancies.
Actively participate in discussions on process improvement, new technologies/challenges and various SAP HANA, S/4 Embedded Analytics and Business Objects functionalities/features.
Work with various levels of audience (users, management, team counterparts).
Ability to work independently including the ability to work and communicate effectively in a virtual environment.
Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a potential U.S. Government clearance.
Preferred Qualifications -candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
Knowledge/Experience with SAP Cloud based solutions, Databricks, PowerBI/Tableau, and Python.
Experience with Business Objects Analysis Office/WEBI.
Experience with enhancing S/4 Embedded Analytics Multi-Dimensional Reporting, Analytical List Page, Overview Pages, and KPIs.
Large S/4 project experience (team, deliverables, schedule, PMO oversight/status, etc).
Knowledge of the SAP methodology and deliverables for each phase and or Agile methodology.
Experience in technical business consulting, ability to take customer requests from ambiguity to deployable product.
Knowledge of domain-driven data ownership concepts

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
