Position Description:
Develops technical solutions that offer efficient design for data storage and retrieval for applications and batch processing. Builds Data Solution that are of high-quality, robust, cloud-first and event driven. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application-level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Data Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing Financial Services Applications, specifically in Asset Management with knowledge of Portfolio Management.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Data Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing Financial Services Applications, specifically in Asset Management with knowledge of Portfolio Management.

- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and implementing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) jobs to load data to ODS and Warehouses (Snowflake and Oracle) and data marts, using Informatica, PL/SQL, and Python; developing Shell and Python scripts for ETL; scheduling ETL jobs using Autosys Scheduler; and writing and tuning SQL queries and procedures using Snowflake and Oracle.
- DE performing database design, using type 1, 2, 3 dimensional structures, and Dimensional (Star and Snowflake); prototyping and building infrastructure frameworks and highly scalable Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) solutions and pipelines, using uDeploy, Jenkins, CloudFormation, Git, and Artifactory.
- DE providing technical leadership for onshore and offshore development and core maintenance projects according to Agile methodologies using JIRA; and designing, building, and maintaining applications to support some of the complex functionalities built in Common Data Environment and Data Warehouse Environment -- maintaining the Environment Social and Governance factors, maintaining the pricing data, maintaining the daily trades and help business with some of the time critical data.
- DE analyzing, designing, and implementing processes and system architecture to create robust backend system architecture that supports enhanced front-end experiences, using use case diagrams, cloud based infrastructure (AWS) and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and prototyping and building infrastructure frameworks.
