Principal Consultant - Records Management

As Principal Business Consultant you are the most senior individual contributor in our delivery model: the person customers trust with their hardest problems, and the person our consultants learn from. You sit where records management expertise, enterprise SaaS delivery, and applied AI meet — and you set the standard for all three.

This is a build-and-lead role in a business moving fast. You won't inherit a finished playbook. You'll own it, improve it, and teach it.

Expertise that compounds. You'll work across financial services, government, and critical-infrastructure customers in Australia, New Zealand, and North America — among the most complex, regulated information estates in the market. Every engagement extends your practice rather than repeating it.

AI-native from day one. You'll use AI daily to accelerate discovery, charter design, and governance documentation — and help define how a professional-services function actually operates when AI is part of the team, not a bolt-on. Few roles let you build that muscle on real, regulated work.

Influence beyond your own accounts. As a Practice Owner, the frameworks, patterns, and standards you define shape how the entire global Onboarding & Delivery function delivers — not just your engagements.

A real seat at the table. You'll shape pre-sale feasibility, solution patterns, and quality-gate criteria alongside Sales, Product, and the RM Practice.

The business is undergoing a rapid shift to AI-supported practice, organised around a single goal in People terms: attract and grow an AI-native workforce. This role is expected to help set that pace, not watch it happen. In practice:

• Use AI to accelerate discovery, workshop preparation, and governance documentation so customers reach first value faster.
• Draft charters, solution designs, and customer materials with AI, keeping a human quality gate on anything customer-facing.
• Apply AI to analyse customer data estates and surface governance insights, under human validation.
• Model responsible, supervised AI use to customers navigating their own AI governance journey, and design AI-aware onboarding approaches for customers with AI in scope.

Complex delivery, end to end. Lead onboarding and post-Gate 2 configuration for our most complex, multi-stakeholder, multi-jurisdictional customers — from charter design through first value and beyond. Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions, reconciling what users ask for against true business need.

Practice and methodology. Define the methodologies, standards, and advisory frameworks for data inventory and ROT analysis, classification, retention, and disposal governance — including audit standards and control models for regulated customers. Co-own retention and disposal quality with the RM Practice.

Solution architecture. Design new solution patterns for non-standard requirements and evolve the pattern library with the Solutions & Architecture Specialist. Own the exception-handling approach and decision frameworks for the team.

Trusted advisor. Advise senior customer stakeholders during delivery, influence their governance decisions, and deputise for the CSM in executive forums when required.

Uplift the function. Coach consultants on dependency management, taxonomy quality, gate discipline, and artefact standards. Own functional onboarding playbook quality. Shape pre-sale assumptions, charter feasibility, and first-value definition, and lift handover standards across the team.

Function performance. Define the time-to-first-value approach for the function, analyse blocker and velocity patterns, and drive continuous improvement of onboarding performance.

• Deep records management and information governance expertise — standards and frameworks, classification and retention design, defensible disposal, and audit-ready evidence — at a level where you set the standard others follow.
• Substantial client-facing consulting experience as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, ideally in regulated markets (financial services, government, critical infrastructure).
• A strong track record in SaaS implementation or functional onboarding, including connector deployment, metadata configuration, or integration tooling.
• Proven ability to translate business goals into configurable, scalable solutions and to articulate ROI and success criteria to executives.
• Demonstrated impact lifting others — mentoring, playbook or template ownership, or practice leadership.
• Fluent, responsible use of AI in professional delivery work.

• Active contribution to RM and information governance forums (RIMPA, ARMA, IRMS, ASA) — speaking, writing, committee, or community participation.
• Formal study or certification in Records Management, Information Management, or Business Information Systems.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Exchange, or comparable enterprise content platforms.
