ERM is seeking an experienced Managing  Consultant (8-10 years of experience) or Principal Consultant (10-15 years of experience) to lead complex, multi-disciplinary sustainability due diligence and value creation projects, driving client engagement, and leading high-performing teams to deliver exceptional sustainability and risk advisory services for transactions in South Asia.

Some of our key due diligence and value creation services include:

  • EHS/ESG/E&S due diligence for acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, joint ventures, capital raising and project finance including Equator Principle reviews
  • Carbon and energy due diligence
  • Development of detailed environmental, social and health and safety action plans
  • Quantification of the financial impact of sustainability risk and value creation opportunities where possible
  • Develop a post acquisition value creation plan
  • Implementation support for value creation plan including, capability building, driving alignment, governance set up and reporting  

ERM is seeking a motivated Managing Consultant (8-10 years of experience) or Principal Consultant (10-15 years of experience) to join our team in India.

Main Responsibilities:

  • The Managing Consultant or Principal Consultant is responsible for managing and delivering large, complex projects and ensure that client satisfaction are upheld through project communications and engagement as well as quality of outputs produced to deliver client service excellence.
  • Driving  EHS Due Diligence, investor-driven ESG/Sustainable Finance opportunity development with both existing and new clients
  • Lead consulting engagements across the range of Environmental, Social and  Health and Safety  Due Diligence, acting as ERM’s key point of contact with project clients, delivering excellent value and quality service.
  • Overseeing the sizing of the financial impact of the sustainability related risk and / or opportunity and good working knowledge of financial modelling
  • Lead, manage performance and retain, inspire and mentor team personnel for overall success
  • Provide leadership, working with project team members closely to complete tasks within project budget and time requirements and minimize project risk
  • Engage, inspire and motivate the team to achieve ERM’s goals, fostering collaborative working;
  • As a senior “seller/doer,” contribute to business development of ERM’s global M&A Solutions service area. Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take active leadership role in the development of new business, in cooperation with ERM Partners. Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business.
  • Capitalize on existing client relationships to expand ERM’s profile and market share in the regional M&A Solutions Services market (through a combination of excellence in technical delivery and business development with existing clients)
  • Identify opportunities for other service lines such as services related to reporting, climate risk assessments, site remediation, compliance, management systems, health and safety transformation etc.
  • Support the growth and development of ERM’s capabilities related to the above described areas by actively collaborating with colleagues across the globe and driving innovation within our practice community to stay ahead of client needs and to differentiate ERM in the market

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or related field.
  • At least 8-10  years of relevant experience for Managing Consultant and 10-15 years of experience for Principal Consultant, preferred to be in consultancy with relevant project experience in E&S and EHS Due Diligence and value creation;
  • Familiar with Private Equity Financial Sector in India and the region;
  • Demonstrate familiarity with M&A market in India and the region;
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed;
  • Well versed in environmental and social risk, environmental compliance, health & safety, as they relate to transaction agreements.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills;
  • Command over advanced excel, power point and word skills
  • Experienced in managing a portfolio of projects;
  • Experience in end-to-end proposal and client management;
  • Experience with people/team management required;
  • Ability to travel, maintain flexibility in work hours and work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken);
  • Excellent virtual or face-to-face presentation skills, with a firm understanding of deal dynamics for a given assignment;
  • Knowledge and/or interest in corporate sustainability, sustainable finance and/or ESG data & analytics

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance and/or sustainability
  • Master's degree in environmental management or related discipline
  • More than 10 years of consulting experience
  • Experience in sustainability, EHS and finance or buy-side/sell-side due diligence
  • Experience conducting multi-site field diligences, interviewing frontline workers, identifying operational risks and evaluating on-site controls
  • Ability to interpret permits, regulatory compliance requirements, safety standards, and audit frameworks
  • Familiarity with M&A processes
  • Experience in private equity deal environments
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Familiarity with IFC Performance Standards and conducting IFC PS reviews
  • Experience in project management, consultancy environment exposure, and leadership in health and safety
  • Experience in proposal and client management
  • Experience in financial modelling and/or carbon modelling
  • Excellent English communication and written content development skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel for on-site due diligence
  • Ability to conduct on-site inspections, interviews, document reviews and prepare client reports
  • Ability to develop E&S policy frameworks, ESMS, EHS governance and legal registers
