As a configuration engineer at Liberty Mutual Investments, you will have the chance to engage in the full cycle of idea generation, solution formulation, and solution implementation. You will be able to see the impact of your hard work in improving the current use of Aladdin and our other investment platforms.
Note: This role has a hybrid work arrangement (2 days/week in Boston or NYC)
Responsibilities:
Under limited supervision, analyzes and significantly configures software, applications, and programs from general requirements and specifications. The role is responsible for maintaining, modifying, testing, resolving bugs, and enhancing the existing functionality. The role is seen as a technical expert within the team that can analyze complex technical problems and provides solutions. This role may mentor junior team members.

  • Knowledge of the Aladdin platform, including its capabilities and workflows. Experience in using Aladdin tools to effectively solve problems.
  • Ability to analyze and integrate business requirements, collaborating with internal teams and Blackrock Aladdin to develop and implement workflows tailored to meet specific business requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience with the business functions and processes across the front and middle office teams that utilize the Aladdin platform.
  • Experience leading discovery sessions and translating requirements from senior portfolio managers and other Aladdin business users that will lead to a workable implementation plan to execute changes and enhancements.
  • Strong knowledge of investment management data with specific expertise with the Aladdin data model and the data stored within it.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to continually enhance knowledge and expertise in new Aladdin applications and processes.
  • Configures single module according to defined design specs & demonstrates a highly proficient understanding of transactions and major configuration options for a business process.
  • Identifies design elements of new business processes and package application design within a single business process.
  • Identifies designs for functional and technical requirements (e.g., gap analysis, infrastructure, interfaces, reports, enhancements, and/or conversions).
  • Identifies process improvements that address complex functional and package technology gaps within a single business process.
  • Analyzes and prepares complex technology enabled recommendations to address gaps within a single business process.
  • Develops complex test scripts and assists with coordinating test transactional data creation.
  • Identifies and researches complex testing defects.
  • Uses testing tools successfully for components within a single module or business process within a mixed team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor`s or Master`s degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience, technical degree preferred
  • Generally, 8+ years of professional experience
  • In depth knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies
  • In depth knowledge of diverse and emerging technologies and new architectural concepts and principles
  • Knowledgeable in software engineering languages and tools; proficient in new and emerging technologies
  • In depth understanding of layered solutions and designs; in depth understanding of shared software concepts and product features, as well as security minded
  • In depth knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies; in depth understanding of global business and technology trends and the financial services industry
  • Highly developed negotiation, consensus building & influencing skills, facilitation and the adaptability to respond to change quickly
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization
