About this role
Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Architect within the Chief Operating Office Technology portfolio to define and execute the architecture strategy for Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) post-trade functions. This leader will align technology investments with business growth, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, resilience, and modernization priorities.
As the portfolio's senior architecture authority, you will partner with business and technology leaders to establish target-state architectures across applications, data, integrations, cloud platforms, and emerging technologies, delivering scalable, secure solutions for CIB post-trade operations.
The role requires deep financial services, enterprise architecture, and modern engineering expertise to lead technology transformation, simplify complex ecosystems, establish reusable data and integration standards, and advance cloud-native, AI-enabled, and automated capabilities. In addition, you will help shape future-state architecture strategies across the broader Consumer & Investment Banking technology organization.
In this role, you will:
  • Apply deep Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) post-trade expertise, enterprise architecture leadership, data and integration strategy, and modern AI and engineering capabilities to lead hands-on solution architecture and execution.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business and technology leadership to develop or influence architecture solutions supporting investment advisory, brokerage, wealth management, portfolio management, trading, and client servicing platforms.
  • Lead architecture strategy and resolution of highly complex technology challenges across corporate and investment banking products and services.
  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to senior leadership on implementing the transformation strategy describing the current state, target state, and transition architecture
  • Translate deep technology expertise and understanding of consumer investment business objectives into scalable engineering solutions.
  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise for innovative technology solutions that improve investor experience and advisor effectiveness.
  • Design and drive implementation of AI-driven solutions to support advisor workflows, investment research, client communications, compliance monitoring, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with risk, compliance, legal, and regulatory teams to ensure architectures support SEC, FINRA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Promote architecture standards aligned with enterprise banking and investment technology strategies.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, digital assets and AI capabilities that create competitive advantages in investment services.
  • Engage strategically with senior leaders across technology, product, operations, risk, compliance, and investment businesses.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of technology design and engineering experience supporting investment banking, brokerage, trading, post trade or financial services platforms.
  • 3+ years of workflow automation and process optimization experience.
  • 2+ years of experience applying AI and/or generative AI frameworks (e.g., GPT, LangChain, agentic AI) to enhance investment operations, advisor workflows, or client servicing capabilities.
  • 1 year of experience architecting and implementing conversational AI, intelligent assistants, or agentic solutions.
Desired Qualifications
  • 7+ years of architecture leadership within a Tier-1 global financial institution.
  • 5+ years of experience in wealth management, brokerage, investment banking, capital markets, or consumer investment services.
  • Strong understanding of investment products including equities, fixed income, mutual funds, ETFs, managed accounts, retirement products, and alternative investments.
  • Experience building enterprise AI platforms utilizing: Vector Databases, Knowledge Graphs, Semantic Search, Agent Frameworks, Intelligent Workflow Automation
  • Experience with trading and post trade management platforms
  • Knowledge of investment industry regulations including SEC, FINRA, Reg BI, AML, KYC, and investor protection requirements.
  • Experience leading application rationalization, platform modernization, and cloud transformation initiatives across complex enterprise portfolios.
  • Familiarity with modern engineering toolchains including: GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins, Terraform, OpenShift, Kubernetes, etc
  • Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly executive leadership.
  • Experience leading application modernization, consolidation, and rationalization initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive insights from large and complex financial data environments.
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related discipline.

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
