Microsoft AI Experiences, Copilot Engineering team is seeking skilled AI Platform Engineers to advance the next generation of capabilities for our personal AI, Copilot. This role involves building and operating the AI platform services that power Copilot—model serving, orchestration, retrieval, and the APIs that product teams build on—with full ownership from design through production. Build new AI features that enhance Copilot.
Build secure and performant AI Platform services that power Copilot.
Work collaboratively with other AI Researchers, Platform, infrastructure, application engineers to build next generation AI products and services.
Ship high-quality, well-tested, secure, and maintainable code.
Find a path to get things done despite roadblocks to get your work into the hands of users quickly and iteratively.
Operate in a fast-paced, design-driven product development cycle, owning your systems in production including participation in on-call.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience leveraging generative AI technologies to develop innovative and user-focused product features.
6+ years' experience building APIs and creating pipelines for large-scale products
6+ years' experience building scalable services on top of public cloud infrastructure like Azure, AWS, or GCP. Extensive use of datastores such as relational databases and key-value stores.
Experience using Machine Learning frameworks, including experience using, deploying, and scaling large language models (LLMs), either personally or professionally.
Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and user experience.
Dedication to writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with a focus on application quality, performance, and security.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers.
Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, agent frameworks, or tool-calling systems at scale, and with building evaluation and experimentation infrastructure for AI systems.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing requirements and deadlines.
Proven ability to collaborate and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team.
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
