Principal, Accounting Product Strategy

Job Description
Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology is currently searching for a Principal, Accounting Product Strategy, to join our Product Management team. This role works closely with the Chief Customer Officer and Chief Marketing Officer to translate client insights, business needs, and industry trends into product capabilities.
This role will focus on converting insurance accounting principles into product capabilities, and experience as a proven finance and account expert in the insurance industry will help you succeed. You will aid in setting a vision, overall strategy, and development of new products and solutions from ideas to launch.
What You'll Do

• Product Strategy
  • Translate insurance accounting and financial reporting principles into strategic product capabilities, including market needs and product vision and strategy
  • Apply industry expertise to design products that solve for current and future gaps or opportunity areas
  • Liaise with market and industry leaders and internal product management team to bring industry insights into our product capabilities
  • Work closely with other product leaders and customers to understand product use cases, customer journeys, business applicability and impact of each use case
• Customer Engagement
  • Engage directly with customers to ensure the product will help them reach their desired business outcomes
  • Present product to customer executives
• Thought Leadership & Insurance Industry Expert
  • Contribute to thought leadership on the issues facing current and prospective customers
  • Write clear and concise briefs that translates strategy into the work we need to execute
  • Build trusted and collaborative relationships with key stakeholder and partner organizations including: Technology, Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience, and Marketing.
• Performs other duties as assigned by immediate manager or management team.

What You'll Need to Succeed
We're looking for someone who:

• Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems office

Your experience should include some or all of the following:

• Strong collaboration skills and commitment to interdisciplinary thinking - ability to work across teams focused on strategy, technology, and data in service to new product solutions
• Must be able to lead product transformation visioning, while at the same time being comfortable in rolling up sleeves and lead the day-to-day activities
• Proven experience influencing a business or marketing strategy through the application and/or management of competitive information, market awareness and product positioning
• Ability to think strategically and 'big picture', to formulate appropriate product solutions to solve customer business needs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and adept at developing relationships across diverse teams; confident at presenting at conferences and liaising with external professionals
• Highly motivated, collaborative, and innovative
• Successful track record of working and thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced and changing environment that is results oriented and collaborative
• Proven ability to effectively communicate with leaders
• Skilled at simultaneously managing both strategic initiatives and the execution of day-to-day deliverables
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in the areas of Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting

• Accounting practice experience
• SEC filing experience
• Multi Entity/International Group experience
• An advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
• Qualified Accountant (CPA or equivalent) certification
