About the Role

Our award-winning Norton, Avast, AVG & CCleaner products protect hundreds of millions of people around the world while LifeLock provides its members identity theft protection, which is intended to detect fraudulent activity, including applications for various credit and non-credit related services. 

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be working with software engineers to build, maintain and support a highly available micro-service stack running in AWS as well as creating standards for other engineers to follow. This team strives to continuously improve our environment by ensuring the highest levels of security and reliability while automating as many processes and tasks as possible. You will work closely with our Product/Engineering, TechOps and Security teams on developing and operating Business Applications utilizing the infrastructure and implementing monitoring/alerting for these applications.

What You Will Do in This Role

  • Ensure high availability, security, and performance of production and development environments for our applications which utilize a broad range of Cloud technologies in AWS, and applications developed in NodeJS, Spring Boot, Java/Tomcat, Python, etc. 

  • Write code to automate configuration management and other tasks, to facilitate provisioning of AWS and Azure services in development, staging and production environments using technologies such as Chef, Terraform, Bash, Groovy, Kotlin, etc.

  • Establish and standardize build patterns and provide clear concise written documentation for the same.

  • Ensure applications and systems are fully patched, and up to date

  • Develop and maintain build and deployment pipelines and tools which automate for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment using tools such as Github, TeamCity, Jenkins, etc. 

  • Optimize performance leveraging log analytics and APM tools such as Dynatrace and Sumologic to gain insights and restore applications to full health as required.

  • Work with software development teams and architects to shape the architecture, design, and implementations of new and existing systems and features to enhance their operational hygiene, reliability, performance, efficiency, and scalability of our systems. 

  • Work with modern cloud technologies such as PaaS web applications, DBaaS, etc. 

  • Define key service metrics and ensure they are measured, monitored, and raising alerts when needed, leveraging Dynatrace, SumoLogic, CloudWatch, Site 24x7, etc.

  • Identify opportunities and pinpoint anomalies by developing dashboards and other observability solutions based on the monitoring data

  • Drive efficiencies in systems and processes by providing and documenting continuous optimization, capacity planning, performance tuning, monitoring, information gathering and root cause analysis. 

  • Promote DevOps culture by actively building open and constructive relationships with other technical and business teams.

  • Participate in rotating 24x7 on-call support schedule for production systems. 

What You’ll Need to be Successful in this Role

  • BS / BA degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • 5+ years’ experience with Linux installation and patch administration. 

  • 3+ years’ experience with Configuration Management software and techniques such as TeamCity, Kotlin, Jenkins, Groovy, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Docker, CloudFormation or Terraform 

  • 3+ years' experience building, testing, deploying and operating highly scalable and resilient cloud-based infrastructure hosting solutions in a medium or large enterprise. 

  • 3+ years’ experience in building, securing, and scaling AWS infrastructure and resources.

  • Experience with source code management systems such as GitHub or Bitbucket, including branching and release strategies. 

  • Tool Programming/Scripting experience with Python, Kotlin, JavaScript, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash or similar language 

  • Experience deploying and operating business applications in containerized environments, such as ECS, Kubernetes, OpenShift etc.

  • Experience working high availability environments (7x24) and highly scalable sites/applications preferred. 

  • Experience working with Application Performance Management tools (Dynatrace/AppDynamics)

  • Experience creating meaningful dashboards, logging, alerting, and other observability solutions, using log analytics tools like CloudWatch, SumoLogic, Splunk or DynaTrace

  • Experience with Container development and orchestration (ECS, Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, Rancher) 

  • Working knowledge of PCI-DSS, or experience working in a regulated industry preferred 

  • Solid expertise in one or more cloud native relational and/or NoSQL databases
