Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector has an immediate need for Manufacturing Project Engineer 3/4 to support programs in Final Assembly areas within manufacturing. The primary location is our Linthicum, MD facility.
Manufacturing Project Engineers have responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:
- acting as lead, and primary point of contact, for all manufacturing engineering tasks that are required to achieve program objectives
- monitoring metrics for product performance, quality, delivery, and cost; highlighting detractors and gathering resources to resolve them
- collaborating closely with process engineers, functional groups supporting the shop floor (quality engineering, manufacturing supervision, production, operations, design engineering, program management), the program office, and the customer to ensure manufacturing plan is defined and executed; leading efforts to remove obstacles and constraints to execution
- leading root cause corrective action efforts
- identifying continuous improvement opportunities; creating solutions, acquiring funding and leading implementation
- reviewing product on the shop floor
- leading communications outward from the shop floor, through yield meetings, situations reports, problem resolution charts, etc.
- gathering and documenting non-recurring cost for initial product startup as well as support manufacturing readiness reviews
- coordinating between non-deliverable hardware requestors and manufacturing operations/engineering
The chosen candidate must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility environment; work well in a team environment; and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
This requisition may be filled as a Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer 3 or a Senior Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer 4.
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer 3:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other related STEM area and at least 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Production, or related area - OR - a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience
- Experience in an electronics assembly manufacturing environment
- Experience managing or leading projects and/or people
- Familiarity with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 sigma concepts for process development and control
- Fluency in MS Office software applications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Level Security Clearance.
- US Citizenship is required.
Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer 4:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other related STEM area and at least 8+ years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Production, or related area - OR - a Master's degree with 6+ years of experience
- Experience in an electronics assembly manufacturing environment
- Experience managing or leading projects and/or people
- Familiarity with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 sigma concepts for process development and control
- Fluency in MS Office software applications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Level Security Clearance.
- US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MESA and/or ATP program experience.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Hands-on experience with electronics assembly processes and related equipment for epoxy dispensing and curing, conformal coating, thermal interface material dispense/application, soldering, mechanical assembly, Automated Optical Inspection, component/assembly test, etc.
- Familiarity with aircraft/airframe assembly.
- Familiarity with J-STD and MIL-STD requirements, including MIL-STD-883 & MIL-PRF-38534, J-STD-001, IPC-610, IPC-620
- Experience with composite bonding or fiber optic assembly
- 3D Solid Modeling experience using a CAD software; 3D modeling experience in Unigraphics/NX
- 3D modeling experience with assembly tooling, concept development, and tool/fixture creation
- Experience with the Teamcenter Manufacturing tool suite and Manufacturing Process Planning
- Robotics or automation experience

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $123,400.00 - $185,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
