We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Pricing and Underwriting Operations Specialist to manage all aspects related to insurance, actuarial and underwriting operations. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in insurance, a passion for analytics, and a desire to grow into a Director role over time.

THE DAY-TO-DAY

  • Oversee and manage all pricing and underwriting operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and refine pricing models, underwriting guidelines, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with underwriting partners around data organization and alignment.
  • Analyze underwriting data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure alignment of pricing strategies with financial goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement processes and systems to streamline underwriting and pricing operations.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to drive overall business growth and efficiency.
  • Prepare and present reports and analysis to senior management and other stakeholders.

WHAT MAKES YOU QUALIFIED

  • 3-5+ years of experience working in underwriting operations, insurance, pricing, underwriting, or actuarial roles within the insurance industry, preferably within a startup environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. 
  • Experience in data modeling/analysis with tools like Looker and PowerBI and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, statistical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong knowledge around insurance principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in analytical tools and software.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment and contribute to a positive and collaborative culture.
  • Proactive and solution-forward, bias for action.

The base salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $110,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
