POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Preschool Coordinator is responsible for the effective operation of some elements of assigned departments. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: program operation, program development and growth, participant satisfaction, participant and member retention and safety, community collaborations, and staff supervision. The Preschool Coordinator is accountable for delivering exceptional and outstanding programs and service to YMCA members and participants in partnership with a larger team.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Perform office work as needed such as filing, copying, record keeping, and payroll completion.  Ensure that all necessary paperwork and forms are accurately completed.
  2. Support the Director in training and supervising assigned program staff and volunteers and ensure consistent delivery of programming and procedures.
  3. Provide a nurturing atmosphere and safety for all program participants.
  4. Support successful onboarding of new children and families to programs.
  5. Maintain appropriate teacher to student ratios during programming.
  6. Monitor purchase and maintain necessary equipment through scheduled and preventative maintenance.
  7. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with parents and respond to all inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  8. Adheres to the organization’s policies and procedures.
  9. Provides shift supervision while working 80% of time as direct service. 
  10. Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, development of team members.
  11. Conducts team member feedback, corrective actions, and evaluations.
  12. Schedules and processes payroll functions.
  13. Supports campaign efforts and donor engagement in the community and team members.
  14. Models relationship building in all interactions through Listen First.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead and implement curriculum within the established guidelines for KidsZone, KidsClub, Summer Camp, and Kids Night Out.
  • Support, supervise, and participate in program activities related to Zone/Club/STEAM/Camp.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum 2 years related experience working with children of diverse ages and cultures.
  2. Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid and New Employee Orientation.
  3. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Able to work independently and with minimal supervision. Organized and detail oriented.
  6. Adept computer skills in Office 365.
  7. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop/bend.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.

Skills Required

  • Minimum 2 years related experience working with children of diverse ages and cultures.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
