General Summary:The Presales Solutions Director is a key member of Unum’s presales organization, partnering closely with Sales to drive new business and expansion opportunities through compelling, solution-focused demonstrations and technical expertise.
This is a customer-facing, individual contributor presales role responsible for helping prospects and brokers understand how Unum’s digital solutions integrate into their HR, payroll, and benefits ecosystems.
You will serve as the technical subject matter expert during the sales cycle, translating complex capabilities into clear business value for HR, HRIS, and broker audiences.
This role sits at the intersection of sales, technology, and customer experience, playing a critical role in helping clients understand how Unum’s digital solutions can simplify complexity and deliver real business value.

What You’ll Do:

Presales & Client Engagement:

  • Partner with Sales to develop and execute deal strategy, including shaping how solutions are positioned for each client

  • Deliver high-impact, tailored product demonstrations to prospects, customers, and brokers using standardized demo environments

  • Translate customer needs into compelling solution narratives, connecting Unum’s capabilities to real HR, payroll, and benefits challenges

  • Participate in pre-demo strategy sessions and post-demo follow-ups to refine messaging and increase win rates

  • Serve as the primary technical resource during the sales cycle, answering questions related to integrations, data flows, and platform capabilities (high-level depth)

  • Support responses to client-specific solution requests and inquiries
     

Solution Strategy & Internal Partnership:

  • Act as a voice of the customer, providing feedback to product and marketing teams based on interactions with HR leaders, HRIS professionals, and brokers

  • Help refine demo strategy, messaging, and value positioning based on market feedback

  • Partner with sales and internal teams to continuously improve how Unum’s digital solutions are presented and differentiated

  • Contribute to training and enablement efforts for sales teams and key stakeholders as needed
     

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in a Solutions Consultant, Sales Engineer, or Presales role in HR technology, HCM, SaaS, or employee benefits

  • Experience delivering product demonstrations to both business and technical audiences (HR, HRIS, brokers, executives)

  • Strong understanding of HR/Benefits/Payroll processes, HRIS and benefits administration platforms, Integration concepts (high-level understanding of APIs, SSO, data exchange)

  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business value

  • Excellent presentation, communication, and storytelling skills

  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment with multiple priorities

  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort working cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Marketing

  • Experience with Group Benefits or insurance platforms

  • Familiarity with leading HCM systems (e.g., Workday, UKG, ADP)

  • Background in benefits technology or leave management solutions

  • Travel: 10% - 20% (varies seasonally; higher during peak sales cycles)

  • Demo tools: Primarily standardized demo environments (e.g., Walnut), with light customization

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$89,900.00-$169,900.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.  All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
