About Stake

We’re an Australian investing platform that helps ambitious people confidently grow their wealth. By offering seamless, immersive access to ASX and Wall St, we’ve empowered a new wave of investors. Today, we have 750,000+ customers and more than A$8B under administration. Join us as we continue to reshape the financial industry, inspire investor confidence and unleash the investor in everyone.

About the role

We are looking for a PR & Content Manager to join our Brand & Comms team in Sydney.

You’ll own Stake’s earned media function and become the person journalists, podcasters and creators know at Stake.
We don’t run an external PR agency, so you’ll be the direct, day-to-day conduit between Stake and the media — building relationships, doing the pitching, and knowing who’s who in the Australian media landscape.
Working closely with our Brand & Comms Lead, you’ll turn our communications strategy into coverage that builds Stake’s share of voice, strengthens our brand and puts us at the centre of conversations that matter to modern investors.
PR is an evolving craft, and we want someone who moves with it — as comfortable building relationships with journalists as they are exploring events, talent and influencer partnerships as new ways to build Stake’s profile.
You’ll also cross over regularly with our Content team, shaping ideas for social and brand storytelling, so the stories you earn in the media become part of a bigger, integrated narrative across every channel.
Your remit stretches from business, finance, tech and consumer media to podcasts, newsletters and creator channels across Australia and New Zealand. You’ll have the autonomy to build relationships directly, spot stories before they become obvious and use Stake’s data, products, people and perspective to earn attention. We work hybrid spending 3 days in our beautiful, dog-friendly Sydney office.

What success looks like

You’ll have built an earned media function that gives Stake a stronger, more distinctive voice in investing and culture. You’ll own outcomes rather than activity, with a sharp focus on coverage that genuinely moves the brand forward.

  • Build a media network that compounds. Develop trusted, direct relationships with influential journalists, editors, producers, podcasters, newsletter writers and creators across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Be Stake’s go-to media contact, day to day. You’re the direct line for journalists — across news and features, and increasingly events, talent and influencer partnerships as PR keeps evolving.
  • Grow Stake’s share of voice. Consistently land high-quality coverage that strengthens our reputation and puts Stake into the conversations that matter to investors.
  • Create stories people want to cover. Find compelling angles in Stake’s customer insights, data, products, spokespeople and market events, then turn them into timely pitches with a clear point of view.
  • Expand where Stake shows up. Build our presence beyond traditional media into podcasts, newsletters, creator channels and other emerging formats where our customers spend their attention.
  • Cross-collaborate with our Content and Brand teams. Work with our Markets Analysts, content team and spokespeople to shape stories that work across earned media, social and brand channels, turning expertise and commentary into media-ready content told in a number of different ways.
  • Stay ahead of the conversation. Keep a live read on markets, culture and media, translating what’s gaining momentum into opportunities Stake can move on quickly.
  • Build confidence when the spotlight is on. Own inbound media enquiries and prepare spokespeople to show up clearly and credibly, while supporting issues and crisis communications when needed.
  • Know what’s working. Measure earned media against communications OKRs, using insight to sharpen our approach and focus energy where it creates the greatest impact.
You’ll thrive here if…
  • You love media relations. PR is an evolving industry, and you get a kick out of that — you understand the Australian media landscape, build real relationships with journalists and editors, and enjoy being the day-to-day conduit pitching stories directly.
  • You know how to earn attention. You’ve built meaningful media relationships and can turn a strong idea into coverage across business, finance, tech or consumer media.
  • You’re equally comfortable with established and emerging media. You understand how influence moves across mastheads, broadcast, podcasts, newsletters, social platforms and creators.
  • You love telling stories in more than one way. You’re just as energised briefing a journalist as shaping an idea for social or brand content, and you enjoy crossing over with the Content team to build stories that travel across channels.
  • You have strong editorial judgement. You can find the story in data, a product launch or a market moment and explain quickly why anyone should care.
  • You’re proactive and highly autonomous. You keep close to the news cycle, spot opportunities early and take ownership from idea through to outcome.
  • You communicate with clarity and confidence. You can write a sharp pitch, prepare a spokesperson and build trust with senior stakeholders and external media.
  • You care about impact and craft. You move quickly, sweat the details that matter and keep refining the approach based on what audiences and media respond to.
Bonus if you’ve ever
  • Worked in investing, financial services, fintech or another fast-moving consumer category.
  • Built relationships with Australian and New Zealand finance, business or consumer media.
  • Turned proprietary customer or market data into earned stories.
  • Built creator, podcast or newsletter relationships as part of a modern PR strategy.
  • Run or supported media events, talent partnerships or influencer campaigns as part of a broader PR mix.
  • Supported brand activations, customer advocacy, awards or issues and crisis communications.
