Overview

The Power Electronics Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, simulation, testing, validation, and optimization of power electronic systems and subsystems for specialized applications. The role involves working on power conversion products including inverters, converters, battery chargers, AC power supplies, and DC power supplies while ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with applicable standards.

Candidates from Aerospace, Defence, Aviation, Industrial Electronics, Automotive, Renewable Energy, Power Systems, Automation, or other relevant industries are welcome to apply. Industry background is flexible; however, strong hands-on experience in Power Electronics and Analog Circuit Design is mandatory.


Key Responsibilities

● Design, develop, simulate, and optimize power electronic circuits including:

○ Inverters

○ DC-DC Converters

○ AC-DC Converters

○ Battery Chargers

○ AC Power Supplies

○ DC Power Supplies

● Utilize simulation and modeling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice, and other relevant platforms for circuit analysis, design verification, and performance optimization.

● Build hardware prototypes and perform hands-on testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and fault diagnosis activities.

● Collaborate with PCB layout engineers or directly support PCB layout activities with focus on:

○ High-current and high-voltage routing

○ Thermal management

○ Parasitic minimization

○ Design optimization for manufacturability and reliability

● Select suitable power electronic and analog components considering electrical, thermal, reliability, and application-specific requirements.

● Conduct thermal analysis, qualification testing, screening tests, and EMI/EMC evaluations.

● Participate in Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Reviews (CDR) conducted by customers and internal stakeholders.

● Support product development activities throughout the complete product lifecycle.

● Ensure designs comply with applicable military standards, safety requirements, and engineering best practices.

● Prepare and maintain technical documentation including:

○ Technical Specifications

○ Hardware Design Documents

○ Working Principle Documents

○ Schematics

○ Bill of Materials (BOMs)

○ Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP)

○ Acceptance Test Reports (ATR)

○ Qualification Test Procedures (QTP)

○ Reliability Calculations

○ Derating Analysis

○ FMECA Analysis

○ Design Reports


Qualifications

● Bachelor's or Master's Degree in:

○ Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)

○ Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE)

○ Instrumentation Engineering

○ Telecommunication Engineering

○ Power Electronics Engineering

○ Other relevant disciplines


Experience

● 3+ years of hands-on experience in Power Electronics Design and Development.

● Strong experience in Analog Circuit Design and Power Supply Design.

● Candidates should have successfully completed and delivered at least 4–5 Power Electronics projects.

● Experience in Aerospace or Defence Power Supply Design will be considered an added advantage but is not mandatory.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in power electronics design and development
  • Strong experience in analog circuit design and power supply design
  • Successfully completed and delivered at least 4–5 power electronics projects
  • Understanding of power converter topologies, digital circuit design, control theory, control loop design, and power electronics component selection
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, and LTspice
  • Experience with hardware debugging, validation, and prototype testing
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC compliance requirements and mitigation techniques
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-461E, MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-2164, MIL-STD-1629, and MIL-STD-217G
  • Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, AC/DC power sources, electronic loads, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power analyzers, and related test equipment
  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical specifications, hardware design documents, schematics, BOMs, ATPs, ATRs, QTPs, reliability reports, derating analyses, FMECA analyses, screening test documents, and design reports
  • Aerospace or defense power supply design experience
