Position Summary:
Mackenzie-Childs is seeking talented, creative artists to hand-paint our locally made Aurora pottery. Decorators are responsible for applying stain/china paint to ceramic pieces in an efficient manner in compliance with the Mackenzie-Childs’ high-quality standards.Training on the job is provided for our signature designs. Mackenzie-Childs artisans are responsible for maintaining a high level of quality and efficiency.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
85% Apply stain/china paint to ceramic pieces in an efficient manner in compliance with the Mackenzie-Childs’ high-quality standards
5% Move pieces to and from racks and workstations
5% Data entry for labor recording and tracking
5% Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- Background in art either through employment or hobby preferred
Special Requirements:
- Exerts up to 25 pounds of force occasionally
- Attention to detail required for maintaining high quality standards for size, shape and color of paint applications
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on improving efficiencies and maintaining quality
- Strong work ethic and ability to self motivate in an individualized work environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Attention to detail.
- Requires organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

- Paint brushes and small tools for painting
- Computer
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, push, pull, lift, crouch, kneel, bend, use fingers to grasp, handle, feel, and perform repetitive motions of hands or wrists.
- Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
- Moderate mental and visual attention required for performing manual work, machine operations, set-ups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for variance from proper operation.
Environmental Conditions:
The worker is subject to paint glazes and stains.
Salary Range: $17.50-$18.50/hr
