 Position Purpose:

Responsible for managing and servicing a portfolio of commercial loan relationships. Provides ongoing monitoring of assigned portfolio to ensure asset quality and customer service standards are met.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for spreading and analyzing financial statements, addressing industry risks, collateral requirements, and loan structure and pricing.
  • Works closely with borrower(s), performs underwriting on new and renewed loans on commercial loan portfolio.
  • Responsible for maintaining and expanding relationships, with a resulting high degree of customer satisfaction.
  • Complete the documentation required for the loan approval packages, review status of existing loans and take appropriate action on loans that are mature or past due.
  • Ongoing monitoring of credit performance.
  • Responsible for ongoing portfolio review of past dues, exceptions, and maturing loan reports.
  • Ensures adherence to credit policy, guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Works directly with other internal departments including credit analysts, appraisal group, and loan services.
  • Prepares loan memorandum and facilitates underwriting of new and renewed loans.
  • Assists in the lending and sales process by accompanying the lenders on customer and prospect calls when necessary.
  • Recognize product and financial service opportunities and refer to appropriate partners.
  • Works with clients to collect items needed for exception monitoring and renewal credit process.
  • Ongoing monitoring of construction projects adhering to advance procedures that meet credit policy standards.
  • Ensures all departmental documents and activities are performed in compliance with laws, regulations, and policy and procedures of the bank.
  • Participates in evaluating risk rating and makes revision recommendations.
  • Attends monthly sales meetings reporting on portfolio activities.
  • Assist in other areas of the bank when needed.
  • Complete any required annual training and maintain knowledge relevant to the role.
  • Participate in bank and community initiatives to strengthen visibility and reinforce Firstar’s commitment to the communities it serves.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned in support of the Bank’s priorities and objectives. 
Qualifications

 Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze financial reports and or legal documents.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to respond in a fast paced, fluid environment while maintaining excellent organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently while also collaborating across teams and leading internal partners toward shared relationship goals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, with the ability to learn new software systems quickly.

 

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically requires at least five (5) years of experience in banking.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, with occasional standing and walking throughout the office.
  • Occasional bending, reaching or stooping as needed to retrieve files, office supplies, or materials.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move items up to 45 pounds (e.g., files, office supplies, packages.)
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively, including the use of visual acuity for reviewing documents and screens and auditory ability for conversations in person and by phone.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • At least five years of experience in banking
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze financial statements and legal documents
  • Experience with commercial loan underwriting and credit analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel)
