Team Overview
The Portfolio Management team is responsible for implementing the firm’s quantitative investment strategies and managing market frictions. The team is specifically involved in portfolio construction, risk management, portfolio finance, and cash and corporate action management, as well as trading/execution. The team works very closely with other investment teams such as Research and Technology on a number of firm-wide projects and initiatives.
Job Overview
This position involves working as a member of the portfolio management team with a particular focus in portfolio finance. At Arrowstreet, portfolio finance encompasses all of the details related to building levered portfolios that short equities and synthetic securities. The goal is to assist in incorporating portfolio financing economics into the investment process. The role will involve assisting with the scheduled portfolio rebalance process and the ongoing management of the portfolio finance function. Additionally, candidates can expect to contribute meaningfully to long-term analytical projects that will span a broad array of subject matter and help improve portfolios we manage.
Responsibilities
The typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Contribute to ongoing processes related to portfolio finance and shorting

Work with internal teams on numerous initiatives to incorporate portfolio finance economics into the investment process and enhance related processes

Assist in the forecast and trade review processes

Explore modifications to financing structure with counterparties to improve portfolios

Apply econometric skills to complex analytical projects designed to inform decisions related to process modifications and enhancements

Monitor portfolio positions and risk factor exposures and provide feedback to senior members of Portfolio Management and Research

Provide market color related to significant market events that may affect portfolio positioning and may lead to data or process overrides

Contribute to the team’s morning meeting
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in quantitative finance, or a related analytical discipline (such as financial engineering, mathematical finance, or quantitative economics). Those graduating in May/June 2025 are encouraged to apply.

Graduate work towards a quantitative finance degree is encouraged.

Experience through former roles, internships or coursework to (a) portfolio management, to include portfolio theory, risk factor exposure analysis, or quantitative investment; or (b) in quantitative research

Meaningful knowledge related to financial and equity markets

Experience through former roles, internships or coursework to: (i) running database queries and managing datasets; (ii) writing queries in Structured Query Language (SQL) for data analysis; (iii) using a Bloomberg Terminal; and (iv) using any one of the following for data analysis: (1) Python; or (2) R; or (3) MATLAB
