Morningstar’s Research group provides independent analysis on individual securities, managed investments, portfolios, and markets. The group also collects and maintains high-quality data on the equities, managed investments, and fixed-income investments we cover in our database, one of the largest investment databases in the world. Morningstar is one of the largest independent sources of manager, equity, and credit research in the world. We transform data into insights that investors can use to reach their financial goals.
The Role:
The Managed investment Data Team requires a Data Research Analyst to process our portfolio data across global markets. The analyst will need to work closely with the global Portfolio Team and Local Business Representatives, taking responsibility for data coverage, quality, and timeliness to the highest standards. The Portfolio Data Analyst will form closer links with providers related to data acquisition processes and gain expert knowledge of our database. The position will be based in our Data and Development Centre EMEA.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and maintain Morningstar data, ensuring high levels of data accuracy, completeness and coverage.
- Meet the predetermined production deadlines for internal and external clients
- Collaborate strongly with the global data teams
- Continuously evaluate procedures, create and enhance analytical tools, and implement process improvement projects.
- Act as an expert regarding investment data points and calculations, answering questions and escalations from data team.
- Maintain and strengthen existing relationships with fund companies and clients as well as 3rd party data providers
- Keep up to date on current and new financial regulations (Solvency II, MIFID II, etc.)
- Drive process improvement by applying LEAN Six Sigma tools and implementing process automation.
- Support Morningstar's portfolio capabilities, by testing incoming templates (TPT+, APT, etc.
- Handling of Portfolio Data Transfer Agreement. Strong collaboration with Legal department and fund companies
Requirement:
- Solid understanding of the financial industry and passionate in investment data.
- Excellent writing, communication, problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, capable of handling high volumes of data and meeting strict deadlines
- Fluent English and at least one other European language is mandatory.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Morningstar, ideally in data management.
- Expertise in Morningstar data, methodology, quality and processes. A strong knowledge of derivative investments is also required.
