The Pools Supervisor oversees the daily operations, staffing, safety, programming, and facility conditions of assigned City swimming pools, splash pads, and aquatic facilities. The position ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality aquatic programs and services; compliance with applicable health and safety requirements; appropriate water quality and facility standards; and effective supervision and development of aquatics personnel.

Work is performed under the supervision of the Aquatics Superintendent. This position exercises direct supervision over assigned non-permanent aquatics personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversees daily operations of assigned aquatic facilities and supervises assigned personnel, including scheduling and assigning work; training and staff development; monitoring and evaluating performance; addressing performance deficiencies; approving and monitoring employee timekeeping; and participating in recruitment, selection, hiring, corrective action, and other personnel processes consistent with City policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with City policies, aquatic safety standards, applicable health and safety requirements, emergency action procedures, and established operational protocols. Conducts or coordinates routine facility and safety inspections and ensures identified deficiencies are appropriately documented, reported, and addressed.
  • Coordinates and evaluates emergency preparedness, including staff in-service training, emergency action plans, rescue readiness, safety drills, incident response, and required documentation. Ensures staff certifications and training requirements remain current.
  • Oversees the delivery of aquatic programs and services, including swim lessons, competitive and recreational aquatic activities, special events, rentals, and other assigned programs. Plans, schedules, monitors, and evaluates programs to support safety, quality, participation, operational efficiency, and community needs.
  • Monitors pool water quality and aquatic facility operating conditions; reviews required water chemistry and operational records; coordinates corrective action and maintenance needs; and ensures facilities are operated in accordance with applicable standards, regulations, and Department procedures.
  • Assists with development and monitoring of assigned operating budgets; monitors expenditures; requisitions supplies and equipment; maintains appropriate inventory and records; and identifies operational and capital equipment needs.
  • Maintains accurate operational, personnel, training, certification, safety, incident, program participation, facility, and other required records; prepares reports and analyzes operational information to support management decisions and regulatory or Department requirements
  • Responds to questions, concerns, and complaints from participants, parents, community members, and other stakeholders; investigates issues and resolves or recommends corrective action consistent with City and Department policies.
  • Maintains the Starguard Portal for staff records and work within the scheduling program, Digiquatics
  • Recommends and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives; Assists with pool rentals by providing customer service, collecting payments, scheduling, and verifying insurance.
  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

 Indoor and outdoor work with some exposure to physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazardous environment.
