About the role
To ensure that policies and procedures are effectively developed, implemented and maintained in alignment with business goals, regulatory requirement, HO requirements and best practices. The role involves overseeing the creation and enforcement of policies, streamlining processes and ensuring team members and departments adhere to them.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to draft, review and update organizational policies
- Designing or refining processes to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and support compliance
- Ensuring that policies and process comply with legal, regulatory and company standards
- Leading the rollout of new policies and processes, and ensuring smooth transition
- Identifying gaps, risk or ineffectiveness in existing processes and addressing them proactively
- Create and implement an internal audit process
- Continuously monitoring the effectiveness of the policies and processes
- Ensure that long standing and current demurrage balances and investigated and collection efforts are conducted in order to maximize gains to ZIM and reduce overall balance.
- Set monthly actionable items to drive strict adherence to targets
- Bachelor or higher education, knowledge in Management, or logistic discipline
- +10 years of professional experience across shipping disciplines, including finance, commercial and Demurrage / Detention.
- Computer skills and knowledge of relevant software (MS Office Excel, Word, etc.)
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to a diverse audience
- Demonstrate the highest level of ethical behavior
- Remain flexible to adapt to changes in work environment
- Work accurately with close attention to detail
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Possess a work ethic that includes neatness, punctuality, and accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with the workforce
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree or higher in management, logistics, or a related discipline
- More than 10 years of professional experience across shipping disciplines, including finance, commercial operations, and demurrage or detention
- Computer skills and proficiency with relevant software, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with diverse audiences
- Highest level of ethical behavior
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in the work environment
- Accuracy and close attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Strong work ethic, including neatness, punctuality, and accuracy
