INTECH Process Automation is seeking a seasoned PLC/SCADA Engineer to join our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team. The Engineer is responsible for the engineering, maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, testing and integration of PLC, RTU, SCADA, HMI and flow-computer systems. The role ensures reliable communications, data integrity, controlled system changes and safe operation of remote and supervisory control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, troubleshoot and diagnose PLC, RTU, SCADA and HMI systems.
- Develop, modify and maintain PLC/RTU programs, SCADA applications, HMI graphics, alarms and control logic under approved procedures.
- Troubleshoot Modbus, DNP3, OPC, serial and Ethernet communication networks and associated interfaces.
- Maintain and troubleshoot flow computers, remote stations, RTUs and field communication systems.
- Verify data integrity, signal quality, communications and system performance between field devices and SCADA systems.
- Perform FAT, SAT, loop checks, functional testing, commissioning and tie-in activities.
- Manage approved system backups, restoration, software versions and configuration baselines.
- Implement system modifications under MOC, change-control and cybersecurity requirements.
- Support integration with DCS, SIS, PLC, historian, metering and third-party systems.
- Conduct fault analysis, RCA and reliability improvements for recurring PLC/SCADA and communication issues.
- Support cybersecurity controls including user access, system integrity, secure configuration and controlled changes.
- Maintain technical documentation, test records, configuration records, backups and CMMS work-order close-out.
- Coordinate with Operations, Instrumentation, IT/OT, Engineering, OEMs and specialist vendors.
- Provide technical support during start-up, shutdown, emergency recovery and controlled return to service.
- Comply with PTW, LOTO, HSE, cybersecurity and site automation procedures.
To Be Successful in This Role, You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Control, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in oil & gas, petrochemical or industrial facilities, including at least 3 years in PLC/SCADA engineering.
- Strong experience with PLC/RTU programming, SCADA, HMI and flow computers.
- Proficiency in Modbus, DNP3, OPC, serial and Ethernet communications.
- Experience with remote monitoring/control systems and field communication networks.
- Knowledge of system backups, restoration, configuration management and controlled software changes.
- Experience with FAT/SAT, commissioning, loop checks, functional testing and system tie-ins.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostics, data-integrity and RCA capabilities.
- Good understanding of OT cybersecurity, MOC and change-control requirements.
- Experience integrating PLC/SCADA systems with DCS, SIS, historian, metering and third-party systems.
- Strong technical documentation, communication and coordination skills.
