Description:
As a Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in evolving our engineering platform to support scale, speed, and security across our enterprise. Unlike traditional operations-focused roles, this position emphasizes software development skills: designing and building developer-facing tools, frameworks, and automations that accelerate delivery. You will leverage your experience with .Net/Java ecosystems, Kubernetes (AKS), Azure Cloud, and CI/CD tools like GitHub or Azure DevOps and collaborate with Development, DevOps, Developer Enablement, and Change Management teams to enhance our build and release processes while empowering developers across the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain internal tools, frameworks, and APIs that improve developer experience, reduce cognitive load, and productivity at scale.
- Build automation for CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps, ensuring consistency, reliability, and security.
- Collaborate with application development teams to understand their workflows and create solutions that simplify deployment, testing, and monitoring.
- Write high-quality, maintainable code in .NET, Java, and TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Contribute to the design and development of infrastructure-as-code solutions for large-scale, cloud-native platforms (Azure, Kubernetes).
- Champion software engineering best practices: code reviews, automated testing, version control, and observability.
- Partner with DevOps and development engineers to bridge gaps between infrastructure and application development while evangelizing best practices.
- Mentor team members from operational backgrounds in software engineering practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Platform Engineer or in a similar role, with expertise in automation, infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) supporting web-scale applications.
- Strong software engineering background with experience in one or more of our core languages: .NET, Java, TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Experience in .Net or Java ecosystems and in integrating these technologies into CI/CD workflows.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CDK, Bicep, or similar).
- Experience developing APIs, SDKs, or developer tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally with both developers and operations teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in highly regulated environments.
- Experience with containerization tools such as Docker and container orchestration with Kubernetes beyond AKS (e.g., Helm).
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana) to monitor platform health.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and how to deploy and manage microservices-based applications at scale.
- Background in full-stack Development
