The Role

     

    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Operations Director, this position will be responsible for directly supervising and leading hourly associates, while achieving safety, quality and production objectives. The Plant Manager will promote an environment which fosters continuous improvement through Lean methodology, collaboration, problem solving, accountability, and high performance. This position is responsible for overall site safety, managing associate performance, driving positive change, ensuring results are timely, identifying and implementing cost savings initiatives, and satisfying customer needs. Is responsible for the administration of company policies and procedures, including quality, safety and good housekeeping.


    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Oversee day-to-day operations, assigning weekly performance goals and ensuring their completion
    • Manage projects to design, build, and commission new manufacturing operations at the site
    • Directly manage site manufacturing, shipping and receiving, maintenance, planning and scheduling, capital project execution, and overseeing quality indirectly.
    • Be involved, as requested, with the recruitment, onboarding, and training of high-performing employees to achieve safety, sales, profitability, market share, and business plan objectives
    • Utilize KPI data to drive performance decision making to build a culture of accountability.
    • Strive to improve the skills of associates by providing clear performance expectations, specific feedback on behaviors, effective coaching and mentoring, identifying and providing developmental opportunities.
    • Implement and maintain provided budgetary and resource allocation plans
    • Work closely with Division Commercial President from Electronics to ensure required product supply and quality levels.
    • Help facilitate the optimization of expenses at local facility
    • Demonstrate a commitment to Operational Excellence through fostering and promoting an environment of continuous improvement.
    • Where errors exist, revise/write standard work instructions for review, approval and submission to document control.
    • Stay current on all department and plant procedures related to the job, which can affect the quality of products and/or services to our customers.
    • Expedite, prioritize, and coordinate equipment and tooling repairs and/or replacement with department and plant maintenance and engineering groups.
    • Lead or actively participate in problem solving initiatives (root cause analysis, 6S, Kaizen events or other lean manufacturing events).
    • Ensure an organized, safe, and clear workspace.
    • Responsible for addressing and resolving employee concerns, whether directly or indirectly disclosed.
    • Record and prepare safety incident reports.
    • Authorize employees’ time and attendance. Manage absence issues and coach/discipline as needed.
    • Ensure products conform to quality standards.
    • Prepare regular reports for upper management
    • Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors)
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Skills & Abilities

    • Familiarity with ERP purchasing systems.
    • Experience in leading Kaizen, 6S, and other LEAN activities
    • Must possess excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to communicate, coach, and hold team accountable.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Must be able to function effectively in a team environment.
    • Well organized and self-directed
    • High integrity and honesty
    • Experience with Microsoft Office products
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to interact and interface with production personnel as well as management.

     

    Education & Experience

    • A bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent, preferred
    • 5+ years of chemical manufacturing experience with at least 3 years of supervisory experience with a diverse workforce.
    • Understanding of lean manufacturing principals

     

    Physical Requirements

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

    Location: Cranston, Rhode Island

     

    Pay: This position has a base salary of $100,000-$134,000.  The actual salary may vary based upon several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic location.

     

     

    Bonus Pay: Meridian offers a performance-based incentive plan tied to company success. Eligible employees have the opportunity to earn a percentage of their salary, with bonus payments distributed yearly.
