Planner 1 is responsible for assisting in the preparation, coordination, and monitoring of project plans and schedules. This entry-level position supports more senior planners and supervisors by gathering data, developing basic work plans, and ensuring that resources are effectively allocated to meet project timelines. Planner 1 plays a key role in ensuring work is scheduled efficiently and that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain simple work orders, job plans, and schedules under supervision.
- Assist in gathering and verifying information from operations, engineering, and maintenance teams.
- Support the creation of work packages, including job steps, materials, labor requirements, and safety information.
- Monitor the status of work orders and update schedules accordingly.
- Communicate with supervisors and team leaders regarding upcoming work, material needs, and potential schedule conflicts.
- Use planning and scheduling software (such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or CMMS systems) to input and update project information.
- Assist in preparing reports and updates for internal teams and management.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical training preferred.
- 0–2 years of experience in maintenance planning, project coordination, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of planning concepts and scheduling tools.
- Familiarity with maintenance processes and/or construction workflows is a plus.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to read and interpret basic drawings and technical documents (desired but not mandatory).
Preferred Skills:
- Exposure to CMMS systems (SAP, Maximo, etc.).
- Understanding of basic project management principles.
- Mechanical or industrial aptitude.
- Team-oriented with a proactive attitude.
Working Conditions:
- Office setting with occasional field visits.
