Fellowship-Trained Foot & Ankle Orthopaedic Surgeon

Position Summary:

  • GBMC Health Partners is seeking a fellowship-trained Foot & Ankle Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our growing orthopaedic practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, compassionate surgeon to develop and grow a comprehensive foot and ankle practice within a collaborative, high-quality musculoskeletal program.
  • The successful candidate will provide surgical and nonsurgical care for a broad spectrum of adult foot and ankle conditions, including elective, acute, traumatic, sports-related, reconstructive, and degenerative disorders. The position offers the opportunity to build a strong subspecialty referral base while working collaboratively with experienced orthopaedic surgeons, advanced practice providers, physical therapists, and clinical staff.
  • The physician will also participate in the General Orthopaedics call schedule, excluding upper-extremity and spine coverage. Provider will receive APP support in clinic.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school with an MD or DO degree.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopaedic Surgery residency.
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship in Foot & Ankle Surgery.

Licensures/Certifications:

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a physician in the State of Maryland.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery.
  • Completion of required continuing medical education credits for maintenance of licensure and certification.

Experience:

  • Completion of fellowship training in Foot & Ankle Surgery required.

Skills:

• A high level of clinical and analytical ability required for evaluating patients, establishing diagnoses, developing treatment plans, and determining appropriate surgical and nonsurgical interventions.

• Excellent surgical skills and clinical judgment in the management of foot and ankle disorders.

• Substantial interpersonal and communication skills required to effectively interact with patients, families, physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical staff, and other members of the healthcare team.

• Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care and clinical excellence.

• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary orthopaedic and musculoskeletal care environment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Assumes responsibility for the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and longitudinal management of patients with foot and ankle disorders.

• Performs appropriate history and physical examinations and documents findings in the Electronic Medical Record.

• Develops and implements appropriate surgical and nonsurgical treatment plans.

• Evaluates and treats a broad spectrum of adult foot and ankle conditions, including:

  • Sports and ligamentous injuries
  • Ankle instability
  • Achilles tendon disorders
  • Foot and ankle fractures and post-traumatic conditions
  • Arthritis and degenerative disease
  • Adult-acquired flatfoot and cavovarus deformity
  • Hallux valgus and lesser toe deformities
  • Tendon disorders
  • Complex foot and ankle reconstruction
  • General foot and ankle trauma

• Performs elective and acute foot and ankle surgical procedures consistent with training, privileges, and clinical need.

• Evaluates patient progress on a continuing basis and modifies treatment plans as clinically appropriate.

• Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic imaging, laboratory studies, and other diagnostic testing.

• Coordinates referrals to physical therapy, rehabilitation, ancillary services, and other medical or surgical specialists as appropriate.

• Provides patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, expected outcomes, postoperative care, rehabilitation, and preventative care.

• Collaborates with orthopaedic surgeons, advanced practice providers, physical therapists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated patient care.

• Participates in the General Orthopaedics call schedule, including evaluation and management of appropriate orthopaedic injuries and conditions, excluding upper-extremity and spine coverage.

• Participates in activities supporting quality improvement, patient safety, clinical outcomes, and continued development of orthopaedic services.

• Maintains continuing medical education and professional development necessary for continued licensure, board certification, and clinical privileges.

Pay Range

$1,000.00 - $675,000.00

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
