Job Summary
Under the supervision/direction of staff pharmacists and retail pharmacy manager, the pharmacist intern assists pharmacists in all phases of the medication distribution process. Pharmacist Interns assist in the filling of medication orders, customer service.
Job Responsibilities
- Fill medication orders for pharmacist review.
- Maintain and keep updated logs pertaining for cleaning, refrigerator temperatures, etc. related to U.S. Pharmacopoeia 795.
- Follow USP 795 regulations as interpreted by pharmacists and policy.
- Able to help the pharmacists field clinical medication questions as they are presented.
- Check received drug shipments against invoice, and stock the shelves. Stock the pharmacy medications and supplies.
- Return unused medication to stock or dispose of properly per policy.
- Comply with all applicable policies and procedures including but not limited to hospital/departmental policies and procedures.
- Participate in performance improvement activities as requested.
- Perform duties as an active member of the healthcare team.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of team dynamics and contribute to team building and skills related to participation in strengthening of the multidisciplinary team approach to the delivery of patient care.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent, plus enrollment in pre-pharmacy/pharmacist education with a pharmacy intern license.
Experience Requirements
- Preferred: One (1) year of hospital or retail pharmacy tech experience
License/Certification Requirements
- Pharmacy Intern license valid to practice in the state of Indiana
