Job Description:

• SHIFT - PRN - Variable days/evenings
• Accurately responds to medication dispensing requests, prepares medications for pharmacist review, delivers checked medications to nursing units, and returns unused or expired medications to appropriate pharmacy areas.
• Develops and maintains skills necessary to function as a pharmacy technician, including proficiency in operational programs, dispensing and compounding activities, hospital computer systems, and medication systems.
• Uses effective negotiation skills to resolve conflicts and assures continuity of pharmaceutical care between shifts and among staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned. Follows correct procedures for filling, recording, and distributing pharmacy kits, carts, trays, and interdepartmental product transfer requests.
• Works effectively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure the best outcome for the patient, prioritizing activities to ensure accurate, safe, timely, and appropriate medication availability.

• Verbal communication, organizational, problem-solving, and customer service skills [Required]
• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes as necessary, remaining poised during frequent interruptions, and high workload and emergency situations [Required]
• Ability to interact constructively with supervisors, peers, and external customers [Required]
• Ability to follow direction from formal management personnel and informal supervisors (pharmacists) and at times, to work well without direct supervision [Required]
• Ability to identify, follow up, and resolve discrepancies [Required]

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Field of Study:

Work Experience:

• Contemporary hospital pharmacy experience [Preferred]
