The Clinical Pharmacist is a primarily a decentralized pharmacist position. The Clinical Pharmacist functions as
a member of the multidisciplinary patient care team with direct patient care responsibilities in multiple settings
across the hospital, including the intensive care unit, telemetry, adult medicine, OB/GYN, pediatric and
neonatal, and surgical units. This pharmacist works closely with the medical staff, nurses, pharmacy leadership
team and fellow pharmacists in planning, implementing, and assessing various medication-related programs
throughout the hospital. Additional responsibilities may include development of order sets, evaluating practice
alignment with clinical practice guidelines, medication usage evaluations, development of medication
management policies, participation on hospital committees, education of Augusta Health employees,
development, and administration of competency assessments, precepting of pharmacy students, and
management of the medication formulary. Prescriber order verification will be required. The Clinical Pharmacist
works under the supervision of the Pharmacy Clinical Manager.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an ACPE accredited
college of pharmacy with a Doctor of
Pharmacy degree, or BS Pharm with
commensurate experience. - Post-Graduate Year 1 (PGY-1) residency
or equivalent experience preferred
Licensure/ Certification - Licensed by the Virginia Board of
Pharmacy - Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy or
other specialty certification
Experience - Relevant experience working in a hospital pharmacy
- Prior experience in a direct patient care
setting with experience precepting
pharmacy students and residents, and
leadership experience is preferred

Skills Required
