What You'll Do

As a PRN Pharmacist, you will oversee all aspects of medication management and help optimize patient outcomes through clinical expertise and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Medication Management & Clinical Services

  • Verify and review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, dosing, route, frequency, and therapeutic effectiveness.
  • Monitor patient medication therapy and identify potential drug interactions, contraindications, allergies, and therapeutic duplications.
  • Recommend, resolve, and prevent medication-related problems through direct collaboration with physicians and healthcare providers.
  • Provide medication therapy assessments and recommendations to support the best possible patient care.
  • Deliver drug information and education to patients, families, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Respond to complex medication-related inquiries and clinical consultations.

Pharmacy Operations

  • Oversee the preparation, labeling, dispensing, and distribution of medications.
  • Ensure pharmacy services are delivered efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Verify the accuracy of compounded and prepared medications completed by pharmacy technicians and support staff.
  • Follow all departmental policies, procedures, protocols, and regulatory standards related to medication preparation and distribution.
  • Assist with operational leadership and supervise pharmacy technicians and support personnel as needed.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, visitor, and coworker information.
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, patient safety standards, medication-use safety practices, infection prevention, and security protocols.
  • Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Utilize internal and external resources to support continuous pharmacy operational improvement.

Training & Professional Development

  • Participate in the orientation and training of pharmacists, technicians, residents, students, and support staff.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development through educational programs and professional activities.
  • Foster a collaborative, team-focused environment by providing and receiving constructive feedback.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited school or college of pharmacy.
  • Current Pharmacist License issued by the applicable State Board of Pharmacy.

Preferred

  • Previous retail pharmacy experience.
  • Pharmacists practicing in Missouri must obtain a Medication Therapy Services Certificate issued by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.

Skills Required
