Mercy Southeast Kansas is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join our hospital pharmacy team on a PRN Day Shift basis. In this role, you'll collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based medication therapy for our patients. You'll serve as a trusted clinical resource while helping advance quality patient outcomes across the organization.

What You'll DoClinical Pharmacy Practice
  • Review patient records and medication orders to ensure appropriate drug therapy.
  • Evaluate medication plans for safety, effectiveness, drug interactions, contraindications, and dosing accuracy.
  • Monitor patient outcomes and recommend therapy adjustments when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
  • Provide drug information and medication education to providers, staff, and patients.
  • Support Medication Therapy Services through clinical assessment and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Participate in drug utilization reviews, adverse drug reaction reporting, and quality assurance initiatives.
Patient Care & Collaboration
  • Serve as a clinical resource for patient care teams.
  • Consult on medication selection, administration, formulary alternatives, side effects, and therapeutic outcomes.
  • Assist in developing patient-specific treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient medication records.
  • Participate on committees and multidisciplinary care teams as assigned.
Education & Professional Development
  • Precept pharmacy students, residents, and learners as needed.
  • Support continuing education initiatives by presenting in-services and educational programs.
  • Assist with staff competency development and certification activities.
  • Stay current with professional standards, best practices, and licensure requirements.
Operations & Compliance
  • Complete assigned medication storage, expiration date, and floor stock inspections.
  • Adhere to regulatory, accreditation, and licensing standards.
  • Maintain proficiency with pharmacy technology and automation systems.
  • Follow confidentiality standards, safety protocols, and Mercy policies.
Technology & Systems

Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency with:

  • Epic and pharmacy information systems
  • Clinical documentation platforms
  • Micromedex and other drug information resources
  • Pharmacy automation systems, including:
    • Omnicell
    • McKesson Automation
    • ScriptPro
    • Baxa Systems
    • Point-of-Sale technologies
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications

✅ Bachelor of Science (BS) in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy

✅ Current Pharmacist License in the state of practice

✅ Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to patient safety

✅ Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment and meet critical deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

⭐ PGY-1 Residency Training

⭐ Two or more years of clinical pharmacy experience

⭐ Medication Therapy Service Certificate (required within 90 days of start date for pharmacists practicing in Missouri)

⭐ Experience providing direct clinical consultation in an acute care or hospital setting

Skills Required

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science (BS) in Pharmacy from an accredited school
