Job Description

UC Health is hiring a full-time Manager of Performance Improvement to work first shift at the UC Health Business Center. This is a hybrid role and some work will be done remotely. However, you must be located in Ohio, Indiana or Kentucky once hired for this position.

The manager will support UC Health with delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

The Performance Improvement Manager leads the creation and use of the UC Health Way, building improvement philosophy, methodology, and tools into the fabric of everyday work across UC Health. This position is a key front-line leadership role. Individuals will need to balance education, projects, and recognition to create the safest, highest quality, highly satisfying, and efficient patient care while growing the UC Health staff. The goal is to create a self-sustaining, self-improving system of care. The ideal candidate will be comfortable and excellent at organizing data collection and use, coaching teams, teaching improvement concepts, and growing others to drive tremendous and transformative change.

  • Coaches/mentors, formally or informally on improvement methodology and tools.
  • Supports the professional growth of staff and participants.
  • Provides informative and constructive feedback using a question-based approach to enhance others learning and change management.
  • Serves as an internal resource/expert, to patients/families, staff, physicians/faculty, and/or the community for issues related to PI.
  • Provides leadership and guidance for the Performance Improvement (PI) department.
  • Supports, manages, and leads as appropriate the ongoing development, implementation, coordination, marketing, and evaluation of the PI department.
  • Manages the financial resources/budget and provides leadership, strategic planning, marketing, and overall operational administration as appropriate to ensure department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitors and responds to situations that affect daily operations.
  • Plans, directs, schedules and/or manages resources and/or personnel.
  • Clearly, efficiently and professionally provides communication to support the activities of the department.
  • Openly and proactively communicates across system departments, sites or teams as appropriate.
  • Quickly resolves miscommunication/misunderstanding in a professional manner.
  • Prioritizes multiple requests for information.
  • Assembles and distributes material for project communications as necessary.
  • Collaborates in the preparation, coordination, and evaluation of the annual fiscal operating budget and capital equipment budget, possibly including evaluating new sources of revenue and recommending cost reductions and efficiencies.
  • Monitors or manages accounts; Coordinates payments, interactions, and/or paperwork.
  • Implements and advocates for the UC Health Performance Improvement Way.
  • Supports, creates, and designs structured learning opportunities, just-in-time modules, and online material to maximize learning of users/participants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical, Engineering, Business, or a related field required.
  • Master's Degree in Clinical, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Formal improvement training is desirable.
  • Formal data management training is desirable.
  • Work experience as an operational leader (supervisor, manager, etc.) is preferred.
  • Three to five years of equivalent experience is required.
  • Six to ten years of equivalent experience is preferred.
