8Fleet is hiring. 8Fleet is a rapidly growing LA based technology and logistics startup building the operational infrastructure for both autonomous and non autonomous rideshare fleets. With our anticipated growth, we're searching for a Senior Manager, People Operations to support our expanding multi location workforce and help build a high performance People function that scales with us.

About the Role:

The Senior Manager, People Operations is responsible for leading the operational infrastructure that supports our employees, mitigates People-related risk, and enables the organization to scale.

This role owns core People Operations, including payroll, benefits, HR compliance, workers' compensation, leave administration, employee lifecycle processes, People risk management, and the People Operations workstream for new location launches.

This role will partner closely with People, Operations, Legal, Finance, Safety, and People Tech & Analytics to build scalable processes, strengthen controls, manage risk, and deliver an effective employee and manager experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • People Operations: Lead and continuously improve employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, employee changes, transfers, leaves, and offboarding. Build scalable processes, policies, controls, and operating practices that support organizational growth.

  • People Risk & Compliance: Develop a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating People-related risk. Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements and partner with Legal and business leaders to address emerging risks and compliance needs.

  • Payroll & Benefits: Oversee payroll and benefits administration, ensuring accurate and timely execution, strong operational controls, and regulatory compliance. Manage benefits vendors, brokers, carriers, and other external partners, including vendor performance, service delivery, issue resolution, renewals, and the overall employee benefits experience.

  • Workers' Compensation & Leaves: Oversee workers' compensation, leave, accommodation, and return-to-work processes. Partner with Safety, Operations, Legal, and external providers to effectively manage claims, reduce risk, and maintain compliance.

  • New Location Launches: Lead the People Operations and risk workstreams for new locations and markets. Ensure payroll, benefits, workers' compensation, employment compliance, policies, onboarding, and other People requirements are established prior to launch.

  • Operational Excellence: Establish scalable processes, controls, documentation, and service standards across People Operations. Identify opportunities to simplify work, reduce administrative friction, mitigate risk, and improve the employee and manager experience.

Successful Candidates Will Bring:

  • 5+ years of progressive HR/People Operations experience, including leadership of key HR operational functions.

  • Strong experience across payroll, benefits, vendor management, HR compliance, workers' compensation, and leave administration.

  • Experience supporting multi-state and/or multi-location workforces for high volume hourly employees.

  • Experience identifying and mitigating employment, compliance, and operational People risks.

  • Experience supporting new locations, geographic expansion, or rapidly scaling organizations preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to build scalable processes and operational infrastructure. Ability to scale through use of AI and technology.

  • Strong project management, judgment, problem-solving, and cross-functional partnership skills.

  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:

Base Salary Range: $130,000–$150,000

Plus equity

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in HR Technology, People Analytics, Workforce Planning, Business Intelligence, or related functions
  • 5+ years leading enterprise-scale people systems, analytics, or workforce technology initiatives
  • Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, and Operations organizations
  • Strong understanding of HRIS, ATS, ticketing systems, workflow automation, and workforce management platforms
  • Experience building and deploying workforce analytics dashboards and predictive models
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional programs in high-growth, technology-driven environments
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
