About DECA Games
We believe that games should be played for decades but many are abandoned even when a loyal community is screaming to keep them alive. DECA specializes in acquiring games from other developers and reinvigorating them to continue to entertain for decades. When other studios see an old game, we see an amazing set of problems to solve and a huge opportunity. DECA is a remote company with over 230 people in over 26 countries globally. DECA has been profitable since our inception in 2016. DECA is also a part of the Embracer Group, the largest public gaming company in Europe.
About our culture
We’ve managed to maintain a small company feel with the stability and resources of a much larger one. We fully believe in the flexibility of a remote workplace. Employees are trusted to manage their time and get things done independently. We believe that egos and politics need to be checked at the virtual door. That means no jerks are allowed, that no job is too small for anyone, and an openness to help and learn from each other is required. We love the challenge of working within constraints and love when we succeed as a team. Check out more about us and our values on our website (www.decagames.com).
About the role
We’re looking for a People Operations Manager who enjoys being the person who keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes while helping create a great employee experience.
This is a hands-on role for someone who loves variety. One day you might be preparing contracts and coordinating payroll information; the next, you’ll be supporting managers with employee questions, helping onboard new team members, planning company events, or improving the way we do things.
You don’t need to have seen every HR situation before. What matters most is that you’re curious, organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. You take ownership of your work, ask questions when needed, admit mistakes when they happen, and use feedback as an opportunity to grow.
While this position is primarily remote, 1x/wk in-office presence in Berlin is required.
What you’ll do
- Prepare and manage employment contracts, addenda, and contractor agreements, ensuring documentation remains accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate monthly payroll processes by preparing and reviewing payroll information with our external providers.
- Generate bonus letters, promotion letters, and maintain employee data in our HRIS.
- Support managers with day-to-day personnel matters and HR-related questions.
- Prepare HR reports and maintain accurate employee records.
- Own the onboarding experience, ensuring new hires have everything they need to get started successfully.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and help foster a positive company culture.
- Coordinate company events, both remote and in-person.
- Support salary and bonus review processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and help implement practical solutions.
- Compliance documentation
What we’re looking for

- Experience working with German employment administration and payroll processes.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
- German language skills at CEFR B2 level or above.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through reliably.
- A proactive, self-starting approach and the confidence to work independently.
- A willingness to learn, seek feedback, and continuously improve.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information professionally.
Nice to have
- Experience in a startup, scale-up, or international environment.
- Experience working with HRIS systems.
- Experience in the gaming or technology industry.
"We're less interested in finding someone who already has every answer and more interested in finding someone with strong judgment, great follow-through, and a genuine desire to learn."
Benefits
- Remote first company culture
- Flexible work hours to support a personal work-life balance
- Working in a multicultural environment with people from over 20 different countries

What We Do
Live Ops Experts Breathing New Life into Old Games DECA Games uses their unique approach to live operations to breathe new life into games on the decline. The team works with games studios and developers who lack the resources to handle the responsibilities of running a game as a service. DECA Games provides a way for developers to profit from the long tail of games and enhances the experience for a game’s dedicated fanbase with their long term approach to games as a service. They handle all community management, product management, feature development, art, customer support, live events and promotion planning to ensure a high quality integrated service. Trusting our employees. We trust them to do what they think is best and to do what’s right for the company. Flexible hours and locations as long as the projects don’t suffer.
