Harrison Street is seeking to hire a Coordinator to join our People Operations team that will focus on the day-to-day operations of the People Operations team, ensuring smooth execution of core people processes across the employee lifecycle. This role is detail-oriented, highly organized, and service-focused, with regular interaction with employees, managers, and external partners. The PO Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining accurate data and delivering a positive employee experience. This role is ideal for a highly organized, service-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting a broad range of initiatives. This position will be based in the firm’s Chicago office.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all onboarding and offboarding processes, including pre-hire documentation, orientation scheduling, providing system access, and new employee communications.
- Manage employee data changes including promotions, transfers, organizational changes and terminations
- Serve as primary administrator for the HRIS, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
- Act as the first point of contact for general People Operations inquiries regarding policies, programs and processes
- Maintain accurate employee personnel files and records across HRIS, benefits, and payroll systems
- Generate regular and ad hoc employee reports for the People Operations team and other teams, as needed
- Prepare employment verification letters and other People Operations related documentation
- Assist with offboarding activities
- Support benefits administration, including enrollments, life events, and employee questions
- Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate employee data, deductions, and changes
- Support People Operations projects such as system implementations, mergers/integrations, and process improvements
- Assist in preparing presentations
- Conduct orientation for all new hires
- Provide backup support to other People Operations team members during peak periods, including primary backup for Payroll and Benefits

Requirements:
- 2–4 years of experience in an HR coordinator, HR operations, or HR administrative role
- Working knowledge of HR processes, benefits, and basic employment regulations
- Experience using HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, BambooHR, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of discretion and professionalism with sensitive information
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- Experience supporting a multi-state or growing organization
